Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja) novel Chapter 1972

Zoey held the pill between her fingers and continued, "Open up, take your medicine."

Fitch leaned against the headboard, his eyes closed, his Adam's apple bobbing, sweat dripping down his forehead in beads.

"Fitch?"

No response came from him.

Zoey's concern grew. She gently wiped his sweat away with a towel, her voice softening considerably.

"Feeling that bad?"

Fitch opened his eyes, a hazy look in them, and pointed to his throat, "Here."

His demeanor, so much like Nolan's, made Zoey's heart soften further as she wiped the sweat from his neck.

"Take the medicine, and you'll feel better."

"I won't."

After these three words, he closed his eyes again.

Zoey sensed something was seriously off. It reminded her too much of Nolan.

Frowning, she gently slapped his face.

"Wake up, take the medicine. Since when are you this stubborn when sick?"

Fitch pursed his lips, stubbornly refusing the medicine.

Eventually, Zoey pinched his chin and forced the pill into his mouth, then leaned in, using her tongue to push it down.

The pill slid smoothly down his throat. He opened his eyes, his cheeks flushing even more.

Zoey picked up a glass of water, about to help him drink, when she heard him say, "Miss, why'd you kiss me?"

The glass fell from her hand, shattering on the floor.

"What did you say?"

"Why'd you kiss me, Miss? Isn't that illegal?"

At that moment, Zoey was sure he was delirious from the fever, yet she was deeply worried about his condition.

"And who are you right now?"

"Greenfield Preschool's Fitch!"

"Fitch, student."

"Present!"

Zoey struggled to keep a straight face, a slight smile betraying her.

"Nap time, sleep now."

"Okay."

Fitch curled up, quickly lying down on the bed.
