Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja) novel Chapter 2083

Stella watched as the car sped away, only to slowly settle back at the bus stop.

A few minutes later, the car slowly reversed back towards her. Beck just couldn't resist.

"Get in. If you end up sick or worse, my dad's gonna give me an earful," he grumbled.

Stella's eyes sparkled with a hint of relief as she made her way to the passenger seat.

She tried to buckle up, but her strength was failing her. After several attempts, she couldn't secure the seatbelt.

Beck, running out of patience, leaned over, grabbed the seatbelt, and clicked it into place for her.

Stella caught a whiff of his cologne, reminiscent of fresh bamboo, subtle yet distinctly masculine.

She turned to glance at Beck's face.

Beck seemed indifferent, focusing on the road as soon as he secured her seatbelt, pressing down on the accelerator.

As the car swayed, Stella's mind wandered to the past.

She hadn't always been this lonely. She once had a best friend, a girl who was mute, communicating only through basic sign language.

None of their classmates bothered to learn sign language, so Stella took it upon herself to do so, just to chat with her friend.

Her friend excelled academically, majoring in computer science, which was the most prestigious program at their university. Graduates from that program started with salaries of $5,000 a year.

Stella would often jest about the soaring demand for computer science grads, assuring her friend that she wouldn't have to worry about the future.
