Beck glanced down at his sleeve, gripped tightly in her hand, and then into the depth of her eyes.
There was an unfathomable darkness there, as if not a single spark of light existed.
He furrowed his brow slightly, “I’m not leaving, I’m just going to get you some water.”
“I don’t want water, I’m not thirsty.”
But her lips were so cracked that traces of blood were visible.
After a moment's thought, Beck gently ruffled her hair.
Stella was still shivering slightly, unwilling to let go of him.
Soon, a maid arrived at the door, alerted by Stella's loud calls that had awakened others in the house.
Sitting by the bed, Beck instructed the maid.
“Bring a glass of warm water and some fever reducer, please.”
Stella’s fever had worsened, perhaps just as the doctor said, she had been too tense.
The maid quickly brought the water and handed the pill to Beck.
He gently tilted Stella’s chin and fed her the medication.
Stella opened her mouth but did not swallow.
Beck hesitated for only a second before he pushed the pill deeper into her throat with his finger.
Reluctantly, Stella swallowed the pill.
Beck then brought the glass to her lips, gently encouraging her to drink.
After coughing twice, her eyes still looked lost.
Once she had drunk half the glass, Beck placed it on the nightstand beside the bed.
“Try to get some sleep.”
“Beck, don’t go.”
It seemed like that was all she could say.
Beck chuckled softly, thinking how addictive calling his name had become for her. Whether he was indeed her Beck was still up for debate.
He stroked her hair, pondering if a paternity test done with her hair at this moment would yield a different result.
But seeing her flushed, defenseless face made him reconsider.
Why take advantage of her vulnerability?
He sat by her side for a while, waiting until her breathing became light, before standing up to leave.
He smelled of liquor and wanted to take a shower in his own room.
But as he stood up, a force pulled him back down.
Stella looked at him, her eyes reddening as if she were about to cry.
“Aren’t you staying?”
For a moment, Beck felt like he was soothing Rosemary Sanders.
But he quickly dismissed the thought; Rosemary Sanders was much easier to comfort.
Losing his patience, Beck forcefully pulled his sleeve back.
Stella bit her lip, silently crying as she watched him.

The readers' comments on the novel: Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja)
Author, would you story about Ryan settling down and another story on Eric regaining his body and memories back from Patrick, and Eric also settling down as I find it so disheartening for him to have gone through what he went through at the research institute, and I'll like for him to get his "golden boy" life back though, not at the detriment of Ian....
When will the author update to finish Beck's story? What about Dylan and Tyler's love lives? Also, I'll like the author to write on Wilma and Elvis ending up together as she was quite persistent in pursuing him. And Shawn's story, Cornelia Sullivan and Omar Casson. Also, a little write-up on Jeff (Ian's assistant) love life, too. Thanks, author for updating....
When will get update?...
