Stella was still trying to process the whirlwind of events. She had to admit, Beck's tender gestures had definitely stirred something within her, leaving her momentarily speechless.
Beck, clearly exhausted, had settled back down, wrapping her securely in his arms.
Stella often had dreams like this, where Beck treated her with such warmth, but now that it was happening in reality, she found herself feeling unexpectedly shy.
Beck was truly worn out; he slept soundly through the night without stirring. Meanwhile, Stella tossed and turned, unable to sleep until the early hours, when she finally nestled carefully into Beck's embrace.
She wasn't sure how long Beck would be staying this time; this fleeting happiness felt almost like a stolen moment.
The next morning, despite her exhaustion, she got out of bed to make breakfast.
When Beck woke up, the bed was empty. He reached out groggily before quickly getting up to look around.
Stella was in the kitchen, boiling water and preparing breakfast. The place was pretty basic, but apart from a few inconveniences, life here was actually quite pleasant.
Beck watched her from the doorway for a moment, not wanting to let her do everything on her own, so he stepped forward to help.
Dave, a big guy who'd never really learned how to cook, was surprised to find two people in the cramped kitchen when he got up. Once he realized it was Beck, his expression turned mocking.
"Mr. Sanders, you're not exactly cut out for this kind of work. Better leave it to Stella."
Beck, holding a pot lid, didn't know much about cooking, but unlike Dave, he wasn't just going to stand there talking.
After helping Stella finish breakfast, Beck started suggesting that she should come back to New York with him.
Dave, seemingly intent on opposing him, chimed in sarcastically. "Mr. Sanders, you've only been here a few days. Stay a while longer. Or is it the rustic charm of the place getting to you? Remember, Stella stayed here with a baby on the way for a whole year to avoid the chaos back in New York."
At the mention of the baby, everyone fell silent.
Dave regretted his words instantly, knowing he was touching on a sensitive subject for Stella.
He fell quiet, focusing on his breakfast.
Beck, however, gently ruffled Stella's hair, offering silent comfort.
Though she had been feeling a pang of sadness, Beck's touch seemed to soothe her, making her feel inexplicably healed. Perhaps she was always this vulnerable around Beck, and that wasn't necessarily a good thing.

The readers' comments on the novel: Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja)
Author, would you story about Ryan settling down and another story on Eric regaining his body and memories back from Patrick, and Eric also settling down as I find it so disheartening for him to have gone through what he went through at the research institute, and I'll like for him to get his "golden boy" life back though, not at the detriment of Ian....
When will the author update to finish Beck's story? What about Dylan and Tyler's love lives? Also, I'll like the author to write on Wilma and Elvis ending up together as she was quite persistent in pursuing him. And Shawn's story, Cornelia Sullivan and Omar Casson. Also, a little write-up on Jeff (Ian's assistant) love life, too. Thanks, author for updating....
When will get update?...
