It was the dead of night when Maja was just about to get up: lan woke up, his eyes finding hers: 

“Mr. Raymond, you awake?” 

tan’s voice was a bit hoarse. He glanced at the ceiling and rubbed his temples. 

“Am I in a hospital?” 

“Yeah, you were running a fever 

“How come you’re here?” 

“I have a relative in hospital as well. Ran into you by chance. You feeling better?” 

lan’s back was killing him, but the effect of the special medicines had worn off, and he was no longer feverish, 

He let out a breath of relief, but thinking about Holden’s recent actions made his face darken. 

He couldn’t use the Raymond Corporation as an excuse anymore. Holden was hell-bent on making that woman have the child. He snorted in derision. 

Hearing his scoff, Maja knew Holden had really pissed him off, 

She watched as lan picked up his phone to call Jeff. 

“Look up whether the Pennyfeather family reached out to Holden again today” 

He had warned them before. If the Pennyfeathers didn’t stop their meddling, he wouldn’t be so forgiving next time. 

In less than five minutes, Jeff called back. 

“Neil did call Holden.” 

lans face turned deadly, “Check out the Pennyfeathers recent business activities; block them all.” 

He had given them a chance, but they blew it. 

Maja sat beside him, listening to his icy orders. 

But she couldn’t argue. 

She should have seen this coming before Neil made that call. 

lan wasn’t someone the Pennyfeathers could manipulate at will 

After hanging up, lan turned to Maja. 

Maja’s face was expressionless as she asked, “Mr. Raymond, you want some water?” 

Her eyes were bright and clear, seemingly indifferent to his family affairs. 

“Yes,” 

Maja got up, fetched a glass of water, and handed it to him. 

“Which relative of yours is in the hospital?” 

“My husband.” 

He sneered, “Did he contract syphilis?” 

Maja was about to get up to pour herself a glass of water, but upon hearing this, she sat back down, looking at him in disbelief. 

fan figured she might not know about her husband’s betrayal yet, so he said lightly. “Just kidding.” 

Maja felt both amused and angry, finally settling on helplessness 

“Mr. Raymond, that’s not a funny joke.” 

lan wasn’t really known for his humor, but his words could be pretty sharp, like when he mistook Maja for a woman of the night. 

And when he was cold, he didn’t mince words. 

At her words now, lan just held his glass of water quietly.
