Maja telt weak in the knees as she walked out, muttering “Don’t bother me with this kind of stuff anymore, Mr. Raymond, as she opened the door. 

“Get lost, I won’t!” lan replied without even turning around. 

Maja thought to herself, “Finally I’m free from him.” Raymond not bothering her anymore was the biggest relief. 

When she opened the door, she saw the surprised look on the nurse’s face. But she pretended not to notice, knowing that she must have looked like a hot mess right at that time. 

lan was really rough this time; she had no idea how many marks he had left on her. 

The nurse didn’t dare to say anything, she was disgusted by this kind of woman. Mr. Raymond was in the hospital, and yet she tried to seduce him, how shameless! “Mr. Raymond, it’s time to change your bandage.” 

lan turned his back, eyes closed, seething in anger. 

The nurse gently untied his bandages, shocked by the gruesome wound. She quickly rewrapped it with a new bandage. Ian was shirtless during that process. After wrapping his wound, she noticed the scratch marks on his shoulder. Her cheeks turned red, and she couldn’t resist lightly touching it. Then she tried to hug him from behind. 

But lan’s reaction was quick. He pushed her away and called Phelps, “Come here and get this woman out.” 

The nurse turned pale and clung to his leg, “Mr. Raymond, why not me? I’m still a virgin, and cleaner than her.” lan frowned. 

When Phelps arrived, he found the room incredibly cold. He had the nurse taken away and personally inspected lan’s wound, “The wound is healing slowly; you should be able to leave the hospital in a few days. The fever’s gone too, we just need to watch out for a concussion. We still don’t know about any possible after–effects.” 

lan was silent, just staring out the window. 

Phelps was still holding the medical chart, and after some thought, he asked, “How did you get the marks on your shoulder?” 

“Penny, lan closed his eyes, leaning back on the headboard, irritated. 

Phelps didn’t expect those two could get it on even in the hospital, he couldn’t help but advise, “Take it easy, too much of this isn’t good.” 

That’s because you haven’t met someone you fancy,” lan frowned, probably he regretted saying that. He added, “But I’m fed up with it, not going to play anymore.” Phelps thought this guy would never get tired of it. With lan’s personality, he wouldn’t easily fall for someone. Once he did, it would be relentless. He didn’t expect him to get tired so soon. 

“It’s good that you’re tired.” 

lan lowered his eyelashes and remained silent. 

Back at Rosewood Manor, Maja took a bath, changed her clothes, and lay in bed too tired to lift a finger. Suddenly, the police station called, asking her to come in with Ferris. She had to muster up the energy and went to the station. 

Ferris brought Abram Pennyfeather and Hattie Zimmer with him. As soon as they arrived, they began yelling, accusing her of being a murderer. 

Maja was annoyed by their noise and asked the police, “Has the autopsy report come out?” 

The police replied, “Ms. Pennyfeather, the body has been cremated. May Chandler’s maternal family didn’t care about her, so her cremation was decided by her husband. There’s no autopsy report.” 

Maja took a deep breath, “Just because Ferris is her husband, he gets to decide her life and death? Now that the body has been cremated so quickly, everyone knows there’s something fishy!” 

“You little slut, what are you babbling about!” Hattie cursed angrily but didn’t dare to lay a hand on Maja due to her previous actions. 

Maja calmed down and said, “I bet she’s been to the hospital many times before. You can check the hospital records. She’s been a victim of domestic violence for over 20 years. This time, she may have been beaten to death by Ferris!”
