He let go of her, unable to resist rubbing his throbbing temples. 

“Go to the rooftop,” Maja blurted out. 

Unkindly, lan grabbed her and ushered her into the lift. 

Upon reaching the rooftop, he noticed the slightly ajar door and the doorknob on the floor, his brows creasing. 

He kicked the door open with his foot to an empty room. 

He settled Maja on the couch, checking each room to ensure it was empty, then walked to the door and picked up the fallen doorknob. 

Clearly, it had been forced open. 

He casually dragged a shoe cabinet to block the door, then turned to look at her. 

Maja sat on the sofa, shoes missing, revealing a pair of white socks. 

The socks had become dirty from their journey. 

He approached and sat next to her, taking off her socks.

Pulling her hair aside with one hand, he gently applied the ointment on her swollen cheek with the other. 

The sudden familiar scent left Maja’s mind in chaos. 

His fingertips slowly spread the ointment on her cheek. 

It felt ticklish.
