His icy and deep black eyes were filled with a mixture of emotions when he looked at Selena. 

This playboy from the Sanders family wasn’t as frivolous as he appeared on the surface. 

He hung around the painting for a bit, chit–chatted with some folks, then took off. 

When he got back to his car, Maja was already seated in the back seat. 

He drove her back to his villa and personally carried her upstairs. 

He had the maid bathe her, treat the wound on her forehead, and only then did he call a doctor over for a check–up. 

“She’s just been scared, sir, nothing to worry about.” 

Beck heaved a sigh of relief. Thinking about the Raymonds‘ behavior made his blood boil.

After sending everyone off, Selena immediately questioned her bodyguard, 

“Did you find her?” 

“Sorry, ma’am, no luck.”

Suddenly, lan’s voice came from behind, “What are you looking for?” 

Selena froze in fear. How did he get back here? 

“lan, what brought you back all of a sudden?” 

It’s been a while since he last came back. 

lan looked indifferent, his gaze sweeping around the room. 

“Dad said you’ve been making a mess around the house.” 

Twas the middle of the day, and she was throwing a party. That was certainly odd. 

Selena swallowed hard, worried that her treatment of Maja had been discovered. 

“Your dad’s the one who wants a divorce.” 

lan, irritated, loosened his tie. Just as he was about to go upstairs for some documents, he saw a snake crawling out from a corner. 

“How did this get in here?” 

The villa got checked every three days, mainly for pests and snakes. It was impossible for a snake to be there unless someone intentionally put it there. 

Selena instructed her staff to catch the snake, explaining, “The inspector must have slacked off recently.” 

lan wanted to follow the snake’s path but was stopped in his track by Selena, 

Even if Maja was gone for that moment, any traces left behind could cause serious trouble if it was discovered by lan. 

If everything went according to her plan today, she wouldn’t care even if he got to know everything. Because, by then, Maja would have been a wreck after being toyed with by the bodyguards. She didn’t believe her proud son would stoop low enough to pick up trash. 

But her plan hadn’t worked out. 

“lan, why did you come back today?”

After he left, Selena immediately reminded her bodyguard. 

“Keep those things safe!” 

“Yes, ma’am.” 

lan came down shortly with the documents. He seemed to have thought of something and stopped. 

“I heard from someone who knows Maja that she’s missing. And you’ve been calling me about her. Mom, by any chance do you have her?” 

Selena’s face changed, forcing a smile. 

“What’s the matter? You care about her?” 

“I don’t, but she is someone Grandpa admires. Even with all her flaws, if Grandpa finds out she’s in trouble because of you, you and Dad are likely to divorce.” 

Divorce was something Selena couldn’t accept.
