lan suddenly froze. Tyler looked up in surprise, but only Maja stayed cool as a cucumber. 

However, at the sound of those words, her back stiffened involuntarily, and she felt like she was choking. 

It was as if all the air had been sucked out of the room, and her breathing got louder. 

She felt so embarrassed, like she’d been slapped in the face repeatedly. 

She was here because lan favored criminals like Darlene, but she’d forgotten that lan and Darlene had slept together, and now Darlene was pregnant.
