Maja instantly dropped the kitchen utensils she was holding, grabbed his hand, and set the kitchen knife aside.

"Go to the bathroom."

With his eyes half-closed, Ian was pushed towards the restroom on the first floor.

Maja cupped her hands to scoop some water, splashing it over his eyes.

"Bend over so you don't get your clothes wet."

He immediately bent over, his eyes still stinging with pain.

Maja rinsed his eyes several times, then grabbed his hands, squeezed some hand soap onto her palms, and carefully scrubbed each finger.

After rinsing off the soap, she applied more soap for a second round to wash off the garlic smell on his hands.

Maja snatched a towel from nearby, dried his fingers, then held his chin up slightly with one hand.

"How about now, do your eyes still hurt?"

They were too close, close enough to feel each other's breath.

Ian's eyes were still red and somewhat painful, but it was bearable.

"I think I'm going blind."

The butler's anxious voice came from the other end.
