Chapter 0170
Kala POV
“Did I have a beta?” I don’t give Alora the chance to greet me as she usually does when she answers my
calls.
“What?
“A beta, when I was there…did we have a beta?”
“Yes, he was from your childhood pack and found you here with Beckett. Why?” She answers but makes no attempt to hide her surprise from my sudden out of the blue questioning.
“There’s someone at the gate claiming to be my beta..
Silence…
“Where’s Hector?” She asks after a pause.
“He’s off site, he’s at Jude’s pack. What is his name?” I click my tongue, I don’t need Hector here to meet with someone.
“Samson. Look, I’ll send you a picture so that the guards can verify whether it is him or not. But don’t engage with him until Hector is back on site.” Her tone is more forceful than I expected from her, especially if he was meant to be from my childhood pack.
“Did we get along?”
“Yes, you two were very close…I think that’s why you should wait for Hector. He had a bit of a thing for you. Look, I’m sending a picture now, send it on to the guards..”
“Riley is here, I’ll show it to him. Thanks Alora, I’ll call you later.”
“Wait, Kaia. I mean it, don’t engage with him..”
“I’m well guarded here Alora, don’t worry.” I hang up the phone call and open a text message from Alora to find a picture of a young blonde male.
I
pass the picture on to Riley, who takes a snap shot from his own phone before walking back outside of the bedroom and down the stairs.
“I think I had better head back to the alpha house, just in case.” I say to Rosa, as I pocket my phone in my back pocket.
I think Riley was more surprised than me that Rosa insisted on walking me back with him. His eyes watched her the entire time as we slowly walked, her arm locked in with mine.
I could see the alpha house from Rosa’s front door yet the walk back seem to take longer thanks to Riley stopping every minute to redial Hector’s number.
“Honestly, I’ll just stay in the house…” I was eager to meet this male, to find out things that perhaps hadn’t been as scripted as it was with Alora and Hector.
Both of them seem to be careful what they say to me.

Chapter 0170
“I’m not leaving you Luna, I have clear Instructions.” Riley bluntly declaren.
“You managed to get hold of Alpha then?” I stop to ask him, digging my heels firmly in the ground.
“No..” He responds checking back at his phone.
“Then what are your instructions?” I raise an eyebrow at him.
I wasn’t trying to be a bitch but I was confident I could hold a conversation with someone by myself.
“To escort you..” He starts but I cut him off. This was madness, Hector himself said I was experienced with negotiating peace treaties and getting alphas on side. I’m sure I could handle my own beta.
“To escort me to yours and back to mine, I am here now. You can go. Honestly Riley, stand outside if you want. But I don’t need babysitting, not when I am alone!”
“Kala…” Rosa starts but stops when Riley growls at her.
“Luna, it isn’t about you not being trusted. We are targeted with keeping the alpha family safe..”
“I will decide my own safety protocols for the time being. Is the man still at the gates?” Their behaviour was really starting to annoy me. Yes I have a mark on my neck but I hadn’t marked Hector, and didn’t plan
“Yes Luna.”
“Let him in, if he claims to be my beta, he might have vital information that could help to bring back my memory.”
I could see Riley’s hesitation as my aura started to come forward. I know not being a pack member that a ‘command wouldn’t work particularly well on him, but something inside of me was willing to try if I was disobeyed on this.
“He can only come in the pack borders if I remain with you at all times.”
I
“Fine.” I finally agree to his terms out of frustration more than anything, before his eyes glaze over.
I wait in the sitting room, joined by Riley and Rosa, as they keep me posted on the journey of the guards bringing this visitor in via a car.
I hear a car pull up outside, and doors opening before being slammed shut…as the front door buzzer goes.
I didn’t know what to expect, I had no memory of a beta. Of someone from my childhood, but maybe as soon as I see him, maybe all of this blankness will be flooded with memories, flashbacks.
His photograph hadn’t stirred a miraculous recovery but maybe a face to face encounter will.
