Chapter 0171
Kala POV
“Kaia?” His eyes continue to search mine for some sort of sign that this was surely a wind up.
I’m sorry, it’s true.” I look between Riley and Samson.
“What happened?”
“Well obviously I don’t remember.” I try to make light of the situation but it falls flat. Even Rosa, she was tensing her back as this Samson seemed transfixed on me.
You
“You don’t remember me?”
“I don’t. I thought I might if I saw you, that your face might trigger a memory. But it hasn’t.
I don’t remember anything, it’s like a do over. I didn’t even remember my mate.”
“Mate?” His eyebrows furrow, before they fall upon the mark on my neck. A deep rumble leaves his chest as his lips expose his teeth, unsatisfied by something.
Yes Hector.” I confirm.
“Oh I see.”
An awkwardness descends on the room as I mention Hector’s name to Samson. Thankfully Rosa breaks it by standing up and offering to make us some drinks.
“What happened?” He asks me, running his hands through his blonde hair.
“Apparently I fell from the cliff tops..”
“Fell…from the cliff tops?….You did love the cliff tops.” He scoffs at first before sighing out.
“I did?”
“It was your favourite place in the pack, it reminded you of our childhood pack the Clear Waters.”
I was focused on every word that left his mouth….gripped by what he was saying, learning about my past from a stranger. Although I wasn’t a stranger to him.
“My mother’s pack right?”
“It was your Mother’s pack but Beckett was the alpha…what happened to Beckett?”
“There was a complication with the kidney transplant to Alora, apparently he just never regained consciousness.” I respond, not expecting his eyes to flash to that of his wolf’s.
His eyes continue to bore into me, as if searching for something opposite to what I am telling him.
I tilt my head looking up at him, trying to find out what he was thinking. I even try to find him through the mind–link, using the same method I had used with Alora before leaving.
But I can’t seem to find him…
“We don’t share a current pack–link?”

“No.” He frowns, as he closes his eyes and inhales a big Intake of air.
“How are you my beta then?”
“It’s complicated. I was going to be sworn into the Nightshade Reformed pack but then Alora arrived and well everything kind of changed.”
It didn’t slow us down not having the mind–link?”
“No…no you and me Kala, we’ve always had a strong connection.” He takes a step towards me and I’m not sure if it is that step or his words that results in a warning growl from Riley.
“Careful what you say, she is our Luna.”
Samson’s chest buffs out as he turns to Riley not phased, not threatened at all.
“She is my Luna, my Alpha now…I wish to speak to her alone.” He demands through clenched teeth.
“You can fuck off.” Riley growls, crossing his arms making himself look like an unmovable mountain. “Kaia…I have private things to discuss with you. Things that are vital for the Nightshade Reformed pack.” He turns to me, his eyes giving me a pointed look.
“Really?”
“Yes.”
“Riley won’t say anything..” I offer out.
“Even so, I would be happier knowing it was said in private. Please Kaia.” His plea seemed genuine, something he didn’t want to share to anyone else but me.
“Riley..” I sigh out, knowing he would be against this.
“Luna, no.” Riley tries to keep his growl back.
“Riley, I’ll be fine. You and Rosa can go home or wait outside for privacy.” I demand.
“Luna..”
“I mean it Riley, please respect my wishes.” I firmly state, releasing my aura behind my request. I thought I would need to practice it more, but it comes naturally to me…like breathing.
As he leaves the room, he gives Samson a parting glare.
As soon as the door closes Samson takes a step closer to me, his hands gripping at my jaw as he tilts my head up to look closer at my mark.
“You let him mark you?” His tone has a level of disgust to it.
