"My new name? What are you talking about new name?"
"Baby, I had to change our names again. We needed new identities. Why do you think I had to change your hair?"
I grab my newly shortened hair and twirl it around my finger.
"Okay, what is my new name?"
He hands me my ID and passport. I look down at the new name I have and I smile slightly before looking up at Tyler.
"Alaska, Alaska Carter." I grin at him knowing he chose this to apologize for wrecking my book. I give him a hug and kiss him on the cheek.
"What is yours?"
"Nathaniel Carter." He raises his chin as he proudly says his name. I gasp as I stare at the man in front of me who has given us the same last names.
"We both have the same last name?"
"We're married now baby doll." Tyler winks at me and I can't help but blush and roll my eyes at this fool. I wish he could be like this all the time. The happy Tyler who jokes around with me all the time.
"So Alaska and Nate Carter. Kind of has a nice ring to it."
"I'm glad you like it, we have to go though baby doll. Pack all of your things, quickly."
We pack everything together and take it all outside to the parking lot. Tyler presses the buttons on the keys until we find the little blue car. I don't know anything about cars but, I think it is a chevy. We load up and climb in getting ready to head out to our new life.
"Where are we going?"
"Just a few towns over, they'll expect us to go farther so we'll hide in plain site. It's this little town called Hollis."
I nod and sit back in my seat, I turn the radio up and get ready to completely submerge myself into my new life. I will do whatever it takes to keep the people I love safe and if that means I hide away with Tyler and become Alaska Carter his loving wife then that is what I will have to do.
I flip the visor down and find the small mirror underneath. I stare at myself with my new blackened short hair. The black of my hair bringing my green eyes out even more. I flutter my lashes and tuck a piece of hair behind my ear before closing the flap and sitting back into my seat. Tyler reaches over and grabs my hand, I let him, he laces our fingers together and brings my hand to his lip. He leaves a small kiss across each knuckle and smiles over at me while he drives. I give him a small smile and lean over to look out the window while keeping our hands interlaced.
The drive to our new home was not terribly long, as we pulled into the small driveway Tyler kills the engine and climbs out. I take a moment to admire the small white house. The picket fence surrounding a small yard of green grass. Tyler opens the passenger door as I am busy admiring the little house and he helps me out of the car before pulling me into his arms.
