Don't Try to Escape, My Wife! novel Chapter 844

Cara was missing!

When Nicole found out that, she couldn't find Cara anywhere.

Laurence furrowed his brows tightly. Seeing that Nicole was still searching for her desperately, he couldn't help but say, "She may have left on her own."

"No!"

Nicole replied subconsciously, but then she felt something wrong. She suddenly turned to Laurence and asked, "Why are you so sure?"

"I asked her not to waste time on me. I think that maybe she's a bashful girl and couldn't take it, so she just left on her own."

Hearing that, Nicole was so vexed that she wanted to smash his head with a stone.

"I know that you don't like Cara, but she didn't do anything wrong to you or to me, right? She just likes you, and that's all. Why can't you just wait until we get back to the Seapolis City and then say those things to her?"

To Nicole’s question, Laurence answered word by word, "My heart is dead. Compared to giving her false hope and wasting her time, it's better to tell her the truth timely. Perhaps she would find her love somewhere else. I'm not right for her."

"But you don't have to be in such a hurry!"

Nicole was irritated.

Seeing Nicole’s reaction, Samuel was a bit worried about her and the baby in her belly. He hurried to comfort her, "Alright, just leave them alone. Since Laurence has told us what happened, let's just call Cara and see if she has booked a ticket."

However, Nicole shook her head and said, "She won't leave. Even if Laurence hurt her, she wouldn't leave without saying a word. I know Cara. She is reliable. I'm still here, and her job is to take care of me. She won't leave without telling me."

Seeing that Nicole trusted Cara so much, Samuel frowned.

"Laurence, where did you see Cara last time?"

"In the back alley."

"Let's go to take a look."

Samuel said as he was about to go there. Nicole followed.

"I'll go with you. I just can't rest reassured."

Samuel knew Nicole well enough and didn't stop her. He just put on a coat for her and followed Laurence to the back alley.

It was a little dark and quiet here.

Nicole and Samuel looked around carefully, while Nicole inadvertently stepped on something.

She lifted her foot and checked it after turning on the flashlight on her phone. Only then did she find out that it was Cara's phone.

"It's Cara's phone! If she had left on her own, she wouldn't have left her phone behind!"

Hearing her, Samuel instantly realized what had happened.

"Cara is kidnapped."

"But she's not rich. There is no reason that she got kidnapped."

Laurence kind of blamed himself.

He should have gone back together with Cara, but it was too late now.

"Maybe she was not kidnapped for money. Sometimes, women are simply kidnapped for sex. There are many people from the remote mountainous areas who can't get a wife..."

Nicole didn't finish her words, but they all knew what she meant.

"Perhaps it's not like what you think. Maybe it's Martha's remaining followers."

Samuel comforted her.

Nicole wanted to chuckle, but she just couldn't.

"They could kidnap me, or my mother, or ever Morgan. But Cara? Not a chance. Let's call 911. Cara is my girl. I really don't want to see anything happen to her."

"Leave it to me."

Perhaps because he felt guilty towards Cara, Laurence volunteered to call 911 and asked people to search for her.

Nicole was a little tired. She leaned against Samuel's chest and said in a low voice, "Am I wrong? If I didn't bring Cara here, perhaps she would be alright now."

"There is always a reason for anything. Maybe this is just her fate. Nicole, don't think too much about it."

Nicole said in a low voice, "I thought I have become mature and smart, but I didn't expect that Martha still fooled me. Samuel, why are humans so complicated, so cunning and so fickle?"

"Come on, just don't think so much. Have a good rest. Grandfather will arrive in the afternoon. Mother's stuff has been packed up, too. Her condition is not very stable now. You should take care of yourself. If you fall ill, Mother will be worried, and so will I."

Samuel picked her up in his arms.

Nicole seemed to be really fatigued. She just snuggled against his chest and said in a low voice, "Do you know how Adela died?"

"I know. Laurence has said it before. But we don't need to envy that kind of love. What we need is just a plain and steady relationship. We need to hold our hands for the rest of our life. So don't be affected by their relationship, okay? No matter when you need me, you just turn around and I'll be there."

Samuel's words made Nicole feel somewhat better.

She lay in Samuel's arms and said in a low voice, "Samuel, I'm tired. I want to have some sleep. Please find Cara while I'm sleeping."

"OK, I promise you. When you open your eyes, you will definitely see her."

Samuel guaranteed.

Nicole finally fell asleep.

It wasn't that she was not worried about Cara, or that she didn't want to look for Cara herself. It was just that her body really couldn't hang on anymore.

The long flight had already dragged her down. After getting off the plane, she had to fight against Martha. And seeing Audrey added another blow to her emotions. If she didn't force herself, she would have collapsed long ago.

Seeing the exhausted look in Nicole's eyes, Samuel was even more distressed. ,

Fortunately, these things all had a perfect ending.

Laurence looked quite down as he spoke softly, "I'll take her to have a rest first."

"Cara."

Nicole still wanted to ask something, but Samuel stopped her.

"Let's go back and rest first. It's very late."

Samuel's words made Nicole understand that he didn't want her to ask Laurence.

They returned to their room.

"What happened? Where did you find Cara?" Nicole asked anxiously.

"In the mountains more than a hundred kilometers away from here. You were right. Cara was drugged and sold to the mountains to be someone's wife. We called the police quite timely and provided some information. Only then did we track her down. However, despite that we had been as fast as we could, Cara was still slightly injured. She woke up once earlier and wanted to escape, but got her legs broken."

"What?"

When she heard that, Nicole was about to stomp on the ground.

"Did you catch those human traffickers?"

"Don't worry, we've caught them all. None had escaped."

"Bastards! How could there be such disgusting people!"

Nicole had experienced such things before, so she knew how desperate and terrified Cara must be at that time.

"She had already broken her tailbone, and now her legs are broken, too. I'm so sorry that I didn't keep her safe."

"Don't be like this, Nicole; it's not your fault. I've told Laurence to ask Morgan. Hope that Morgan can cure her."

Samuel was also very sad about this, but he knew that Nicole felt even worse than he did.

"I want to check on Cara."

"Tomorrow, it's too late today. Besides, Cara was in so much pain that I asked the doctor from the police department to give her some diazepam on the way back. She probably won't wake up until tomorrow morning. Just let her have a good rest tonight. Save your words to tomorrow, OK?"

"Alright."

Nicole could tell that Samuel was worried about her.

It was a sleepless night for them, and Nicole slept very lightly. She always dreamed of Cara crying so hard and shouting for help.

She woke up, panting. Her body was covered in cold sweat, bedraggled. And she trembled when the morning breeze blew into the room.

Nicole wanted to get up and wash up, but just as she lifted the blanket, an ear-piercing scream echoed throughout the house.

"Cara!"

Nicole suddenly threw away the blanket and ran out even without wearing her shoes.
