Lucy had originally planned to enjoy a nice gathering at the 88th–floor Sky Garden restaurant. But after feeling faint, she was taken to a nearby lounge to rest. 

Luckily, since this was Ellison’s property, he had the VIP room cleared and arranged for a doctor to check on Lucy. 

In the luxurious, minimalist VIP lounge, Lucy rested on the sofa while Joycelyn and Sandra sat beside her on another couch. Ellison and Haddy stood by the window, discussing the future development plans for the downtown area. 

The doctor confirmed that Lucy was fine, just needed some time to recover. 

Joycelyn began to relax as she watched Sandra pull out her phone, muttering to herself. Curious, she leaned over to ask, “Sandra, what’s going on?” 

Sandra’s voice was soft, but she replied, “Just being inquisitive–Google what ‘masochist‘ means.” 

Lucy, still recovering, felt her toes curl in embarrassment at the mention of the word. Her eyelids, which had just begun to flutter open, slammed shut again.

By the time she finished reading, the two women were left in awkward silence. 

Meanwhile, Lucy, lying on the sofa, felt like her soul had left her body–this was pure social suicide. 

Joycelyn and Sandra exchanged a glance. Then, Joycelyn straightened up, her clear eyes darting around the room as she nervously picked at her fingers. 

‘Why was I even part of this conversation? It felt so shameful,‘ Joycelyn thought. 

Joycelyn stole a glance at Ellison and Haddy, who stood by the window, both pretending to ignore the situation. They were probably just as embarrassed. 

Joycelyn assumed that Sandra would back off once she realized how awkward things had gotten, but Sandra, ever the curious one, was relentless. 

“Haddy, why did Lucy say you’re a masochist? You two…?” Sandra shrugged, her wide eyes spinning as she asked, her lips curving into a mischievous grin. “Do you have a story?” 

Lucy was left speechless. 

Ellison narrowed his eyes and shot a sideways glance at Haddy. He was struggling to hold back laughter, biting his lip, taking deep breaths to calm the urge to burst out. 

Haddy, his normally composed face betraying a flicker of surprise, paused for a moment as if unsure how to respond. 

Before he could speak, Lucy shot up from the couch like a spring being released. 

Joycelyn gasped. Lucy’s sudden movement made it seem like she wasn’t feeling better at all.

“Lucy, is something still wrong?” Joycelyn asked, her brow furrowed in concern. 

“I think I’m better, Lucy said, clenching her fist and flashing Joycelyn a reassuring smile. But inside, she was drenched in sweat, and her back felt like it might collapse at any moment. 

“Lucy, do you know Haddy from before?” 

“No,” Lucy replied flatly. 

“Then why do you two seem so familiar with each other?” 

“It’s nothing. I almost died from a scare earlier, and he comforted me,” Lucy said with perfect clarity, not missing a beat. “I was just saying, people tend to group together, and I think they all have a very ‘manly‘ vibe, especially Haddy.” 

She enunciated every word clearly, making sure Sandra wouldn’t misunderstand. 

“Oh, I see,” Sandra replied. 

Seeing how easily Sandra was fooled, Lucy let out a sigh of relief. 

Joycelyn looked thoughtful, then nodded with understanding. “Makes sense.” 

“Right?” Lucy gave a casual smile. 

“Now I’m starving, let’s go eat,” Lucy’s stomach rumbled loudly, echoing her discomfort. 

“Okay, but let’s go to a restaurant lower down, somewhere not so high up,” Joycelyn said, glancing at Ellison, who stood by the window with his hands in his pockets.
