Chapter 200
Chapter 200
Leon had always been single, which was, in itself, kind of hilarious.
After delivering his toast at the wedding, Isolde shared it in the group chat with her closest friends. Everyone found it utterly amusing. No one knew how others reacted, but for Joycelyn, Sandra’s relentless teasing of Leon was pure entertainment.
The usually brash young man ended up looking downright gloomy by the end of it. That night, Joycelyn couldn’t stop laughing. Even after she fell asleep, she dreamed of herself laughing.
The next morning, she woke up naturally. Glancing at the clock, she saw it was already 9:30.
‘Wow, I really slept in! Yesterday was so busy with the wedding, and I didn’t even do anything crazy last night. Still, I slept like a log,’ I said. When Joycelyn finally went downstairs, she found only Sandra at home.
“Sandra, it’s just you here?” she asked, mildly surprised.
“Yup! The two elders headed back. Ellison went to the office to handle something, and Leon left too. It’s just me and these two little furballs.” Sandra was playing with the two dogs, her voice playful and sweet.
“Have Grandma and the rest returned to the hospital? Why aren’t they at home after dinner? Have you had breakfast?” she said.
“I’ve eaten. I’ve made breakfast for you. It’s in the kitchen…” Sandra was playing with Rocky and Lucky. It was obvious that she liked puppies very much and was a very innocent girl.
‘How can someone be this adorable and still be practically unbeatable in combat?‘ she wondered.
Despite her sweet, charming demeanor, Sandra was incredibly skilled and capable. Joycelyn admired her for her boldness and self–assurance, wrapped in a layer of youthful naivety.
Ellison had mentioned to Joycelyn that Sandra would be her little sidekick from now on.
‘I can’t believe I need someone as cute as this to protect me. Goodness, this is too much for my heart to handle!‘ she wondered.

Joycelyn’s tone softened instinctively as she spoke to Sandra. “Are you sure you don’t want to eat anything else?”
“Nope, I’m full!” Sandra turned to give Joycelyn a bright, sugary smile. Joycelyn felt her heart melt. Fortunately, you got married to Luna. She met a soft–hearted god and was raised well.
‘How could her parents leave such a wonderful girl behind? It’s such a blessing that she found Luna and wrapped her so well.
“Alright, then. I’ll finish my breakfast, and we can head to the school later. In the afternoon, let’s go shopping. I love your dress. You’ve got such great taste! Let’s pick out a few more for you,” he added.
Joycelyn was in a great mood. As she ate her breakfast, her mind wandered to the incident with the Wilson family yesterday. Curiosity piqued, she quickly searched for updates on her phone.
She found news about the Wilson family’s bankruptcy. The lab Ruby had poured her heart and soul into had been shut down due to technical failures. Once a leader in the field, she had now fallen from grace entirely.
“A mysterious player?” Joycelyn murmured, staring intently at the report, completely forgetting about her meal. ‘Did Ellison leave early this morning to handle this mess?‘
The thought tugged at her heartstrings. They had just celebrated their wedding yesterday, and today, he was already caught up in such a thorny situation.

She pictured him sitting at the head of a conference room table, his brow furrowed, exuding an aura of tension as he strategized solutions. The mental image made her chest tighten with sympathy.
“Joycelyn, what’s wrong?” Sandra’s voice brought her back to reality. She looked up to see Sandra carrying the two dogs, their tiny paws pecking out adorably from her arms. Sandra’s waist accessory jingled softly as she approached, her expression full
of concern.
Joycelyn gave her a small smile and shook her head. “Nothing, I was just reading the news.” Sandra glanced at the screen and caught sight of Ruby’s name. She scoffed dismissively, her disdain clear. “That woman deserves to be taken down by Ellison.”
Joycelyn blinked, obviously still unaware of how deeply Ellison had been involved. Her curiosity about the situation was growing. “This woman deserves to be taught a lesson by Ellison.”
“Huh?” Joycelyn blinked, obviously still unaware of how deeply Ellison had been involved. Her curiosity about the situation was growing.
“The Wilson family’s bankruptcy is exactly what they had coming,” Sandra added with a snort.
“That serious? But… what about Ellison? Couldn’t this affect him too?” Joycelyn’s mind raced. Ruby had been pinning blame left and right, and now that she’d gone under overnight, anyone associated with Ellison, could face repercussions.
“I’m calling him,” Joycelyn said, losing her appetite entirely. Without a second thought, she dialed Ellison’s number.
In the CEO’s office, William was giving Ellison an update while the man leaned back in his large chair, exuding confidence.
His sharp, handsome features softened into a subtle, triumphant smile, his deep–set eyes gleaming with the satisfaction of victory.
Haddy handed him a glass of whiskey. “Congratulations.”
Ellison accepted the glass and clinked it against Haddy’s. He took a sip, savoring the moment when his phone suddenly buzzed.
The moment he saw the caller ID, he immediately set the glass down and answered the call. “Awake already?”
Haddy, watching the shift in Ellison’s demeanor, chuckled softly and took a seat on the couch, his glass in hand.
‘And here I thought he was an ice–cold executive through and through. Turns out, one call from the wife, and he’s all soft, Haddy wondered. Ellison’s previously cool and commanding tone had noticeably warmed.
Haddy couldn’t help but tease him in his mind. ‘Married life really does change a man. He won’t even take another sip of whiskey once she’s on the line.’
“Are you in a meeting?” Joycelyn’s voice was filled with worry. “I just saw the news. The Wilson family really went bankrupt. Are you okay? Is there any chance you’ll get dragged into this mess?”
Ellison’s expression softened, and his voice carried a reassuring tone. “Don’t worry. It’s nothing serious on my end. There are just a few loose ends to tie up. I’m only a businessman, not a scientist. None of the technical failures fall on me. Worst case, I’ll lose some money and clean things up.”
Joycelyn let out a relieved sigh.
“Alright then. If there’s nothing major, I won’t bother you anymore. Get back to work.” She kept it brief and hung up after saying her goodbyes.
Ellison set the phone down, a small smile playing on his lips, more happy than earning a few million dollars.
“Mr. Grant,” Haddy said with a sly grin, “I didn’t think you’d turn into such a doting husband so quickly. Who knew marriage would make you so whipped? By the way, how did you know Joycelyn?”
