Lukas’s expression was visibly different from his usual self, seeming somewhat agitated. 

“I hadn’t asked for specific details when Skylar called. She just that she and Ava were at the hospital due to some issue.” Cole truthfully explained. “I’ll go there immediately.” 

As soon as Cole got up, Lukas got up too. “I’ll go with you.” He said, wearing a tense expression. 

Cole was taken aback but quickly realized that both men were employees of Strakovski, so Lukas is just as concerned as him. He nodded and said, “Sure.” 

Ava had always been a proud and indifferent girl, but when it came to Cole, she became less aloof. She felt a bit anxious and expressed her concerns to me. “Skylar, if you make that statement, the senior will surely realize that you were dishonest. It’s because, 

even without a physical card, the card must be linked to our mobile phone.” 

I sighed as I looked at my best friend. “How come you’re so smart in techy matters but stupid when it comes to romantic things? Don’t worry, I’m here to help. When Cole hears that we’re in the hospital, I’m sure he’ll come over right away. There’s no need to worry 

about anything else.” I said, assuring Ava. 

Ava was still somewhat unsure and asked, “Really?” 

I glanced at her and said, “You should be more proactive, you know? You’ve been so quiet, and Cole won’t know your feelings if you 

didn’t make a move.” 

Ava had liked Cole for six years and had been looking for him for three years. Now that she found him, she hesitated to reveal her 

feelings. 

Ava had a cold personality, and her unique feelings for Cole were hard for others to notice, except for me, who understood her well. 

I knew that since Ava joined the Information Design Department, she always came in earliest in the mornings and brought breakfast for Cole. She placed the breakfast on the front desk, labeled with his name. To this day, Cole still didn’t know that the breakfast he ate every morning was made by Ava herself. 

Ava’s mouth moved slightly, without the enthusiasm she had shown while typing on the computer keyboard earlier. She whispered, “I don’t know how to be more proactive. I thought coming to Strakovski Jewelry was already obvious enough.” 

I looked at her and said, “Are you sure? Don’t forget that I’m also at Strakovski Jewelry. Everyone, including Cole, thinks you came 

here to find me.” 

Ava fell silent. 

She remained quiet for, a long time until the car stopped in the hospital’s parking garage. Then she spoke up, “I’ve liked him for too long. Sometimes, I’m afraid he’ll find out and sometimes I’m afraid he won’t. If he knows and doesn’t like me back, what should I do? If he doesn’t know, these feelings have been weighing on me for so many years, and sometimes, I feel a bit burdened.” 

I sympathetically reached out and ruffled her hair, saying, “You’re such a good person; he’ll come to like you.” 

Ava pursed her lips and said, “Hopefully.” 

Both of us got out of the car, and Ava supported me as they went to dress the wounds and have an X–ray to check for any hone injuries.

Just after I sat on the doctor’s bed after finishing the X–ray, Anthony hurriedly came in. 

I was a bit surprised, “Dr. Rivers.” 

Anthony looked worried, “Skylar, are you all right?” 

I shook my head, “I’m fine, just sprained my foot. Ava was concerned, so she brought me here to check.” 

Anthony frowned, “What about the wound on your arm?” 

I felt a bit embarrassed, “I scraped it against the wall.” 

Ava interjected, “Skylar, I’ll step outside for a moment. You can talk to Dr. Rivers.” 

I nodded. 

Anthony gestured for the doctor who was examining me to leave the room. 

He then looked at me and furrowed his brow slightly, “Can you walk like this?” 

I glanced at my swollen ankle uncertainly, “I think I can manage.” 

Anthony sighed, “Please be careful, don’t leave any aftereffects. I’ve been trying to apologize to you during this time but couldn’t find a suitable opportunity.” 

I was surprised, “Apologize to me? For what?”
