He pulled out a check. “You’ve been with me for years. I’ve arranged for your sister to go to a prestigious school. With her talents, she’ll have a bright future. Aunt Amber and I will help her. Take this money and start fresh somewhere you like.” 

I glanced at the check—it was for 100 million.

It was enough for Damian to buy a house and live comfortably anywhere. He was capable enough to take care of himself. 

Plus, Carter had already given him a decent salary before, so this money felt like a way of closing the chapter on their past. 

Damian shook his head. “Mr. Carter, please don’t send me away. I just want to stay by yours and Mrs. Zoey’s side. I swear I’ll never harm her again.” 

“Once you lose my trust, you become unnecessary. I understand you were trying to protect me, but I can’t risk Chloe’s life again. You’re seriously injured, so take care of yourself from now on. Don’t you like flowers? You could open a flower shop, find a girl, and lead a simple, happy life.” 

Damian wasn’t ready to accept this fate. A tough man who had never shed a tear, not even when facing death, now cried like a child.

Damian nodded eagerly, accepted the check, and promised to follow the doctor’s advice to recover quickly 

After visiting him, we left the hospital. 

Zoey and Harlan were still in a bit of a mess. But thankfully, nothing serious had happened.
