Chapter 464 Unexpected Situation: Attack! 

On my way to the Bolton Residence. I thought a lot after spending time up close with Dominic and his family of four. 

I realized that his two sons were quite different–one was a bit naive and sweet, while the other tried hard to protect his family. 

Amber was completely focused on Carter, and Dominic was solely interested in getting revenge on the Sander family, so he wasn’t in the mood to deal with the Boltons. 

What this means was that the people from that organization were actually targeting the Boltons but used the Carlyns as pawns. 

Looking back, I suspect that the couple was likely part of the organization, possibly holding a very high 

rank. 

In the letter, Commander’s wife asked my grandma to get rid of the Carlyns, but in the end, my grandma spared them. 

She also asked Grandma to join her in making money at sea, but the Sanders had never left Snowville all these years. I suspect she was referring to some kind of human organ trafficking operation. Grandma turned her down and refused to get involved in any of those dealings. 

Perhaps this refusal angered ‘them–after all, it must have been infuriating for those who once obeyed her dared to defy her. 

The Carlyns were eager for revenge, so they diverted the trouble to someone else and took over the family. 

What could be safer than having your enemies right under your nose? 

In addition to fooling the Carlyn family and the Sander family, Commander and his wife’s real target was the Boltons! 

They orchestrated a grand scheme, pulling all the strings and playing everyone like puppets. 

“Dad, I’m starting to suspect their real target is the Boltons. If you know anything, could you tell me?” 

Jeffrey twirled his pen in his fingers. “I’ve been quietly having people look into this for a while. And I have a pretty clear picture now. Your instincts are right–they really are aiming to take over the Boltons‘ wealth.” 

The revelation was surprising, yet made perfect sense. 

The Boltons were the true aristocrats. They had been one of Snowville’s most prominent families for over a century. From what I knew, many of the undeveloped plots of land in Sǹowville were still owned by the Boltons. 

After the new order was established, Jeffrey used aggressive tactics and capitalized on his past wealth, making another fortune. 

The Boltons were like a juicy piece of meat–perhaps the Commander and his wife had been eyeing it for decades.

If the Carlyns‘ revenge on the Sanders was premeditated, then this couple is utterly ruthless! 

“Dad, do you think the twins are also involved with the organization?”

I was just grateful that fate hadn’t been entirely blind, at least Sheila never harmed Jeffrey during the years she was with him. 

It became clear that, in the past, Jeffrey was the true powerhouse, strong enough to make Commander and his wife wary of him even now, resorting to sneaky tactics behind his back. 

“Chloe, don’t worry. I will track down those two old thieves and make them apologize to you.” 

Hearing that, I felt an unexpected sense of relief. 

“Do you know where they are?” 

“As long as I have a target, even if they hide at the ends of the earth, I’ll find them and make them pay for their blood debt! Cough, cough… 

” 

It was a shame to see a hero in decline. 

At least the Boltons had Carter, so they wouldn’t end up like the Sanders with no successor. 

“Dad, you should rest for now. Carl is back, so you don’t need to worry. With that bad cough, you should really get checked out by a doctor.”

After watching the doctor finish his examination, I nervously asked, “What’s wrong with Dad?”

I nodded. “Then I’ll leave it to you.” 

“Of course, it’s my job,” the doctor replied. 

I picked up a fruit knife and began peeling fruit for Jeffrey. 

The doctor took out a syringe and some medication from his kit. I glanced at him and noticed his hands- rough and dark, with thick calluses on the knuckles, index finger, and thumb. 

If a surgeon had calluses, they should be on their fingertips, why would there be so many calluses on the knuckles? 

Unless … 

His weapon wasn’t a scalpel–but a gun! 

A hand that was constantly gripping a gun would develop calluses in that spot from the friction.. 

The man was tall and straight, wearing a white mask and a white coat, and his neck and exposed skin were very dark. 

Something was wrong! 

He was not an indoor doctor, he was probably an assassin who worked outdoors most of the time! 

I looked at Jeffrey and noticed he was also studying the man, sensing something was off as well.
