“That’s right. When Theodore and I heard about the earthquake, we immediately were ready to come to you. But you called and told us not to come. You said that Jalen was with you.” Andrew nodded quickly. He was very curious.

Andrew thought, for one thing, why was Jalen with her? For another, so what if Jalen was with her? Why shouldn’t we go to her, simply because he was there?

Theodore and Andrew were looking at Elaina without blinking. It looked like they would pester her unless she explained it to them clearly. Seeing that, Elaina sighed helplessly.

“After Jalen was there, I was hardly in danger. I figured that you would come to me, so I called you, hoping that you could focus on dealing with the Lory family. Otherwise, they might have found an opportunity,” she said.

After Jalen arrived, she borrowed his satellite phone to call Theodore and Andrew, not wanting them to waste time.

Theodore was disapproving and a little unhappy. “You thought you were safe, simply because he was there? You trusted him that much?”
