Elaina didn’t know what Alisha had told Deven, and she just felt that what had just happened in the

restaurant was strange.

her in the bathroom.”

“I trust you,” Jalen said. Then he added, “Even if you lied, it was definitely not your fault.”

Elaina could not help but laugh out loud. She was not moved by this inexplicable trust. Instead, she

found it funny.

She said to Jalen, “Don’t you think this is unfair to her? Is it right to defend people we love even if they are in the wrong?”
