Chapter 31
Elaina was sure that Jalen was talking to her.
But she wasn’t used to the questioning tone and words.
“Answer me. Will you accept any other man except me?” Jalen asked again. His voice sounded cold and even
a little angry.
Elaina couldn’t help but laugh. She looked at Jalen with interest. “Mr. Halton, are you questioning me? Who
are you to me?”
Jalen was silent.
“I’m afraid you’re used to being in a higher position, so you speak in a commanding tone to everyone. Is that
so?
“Unfortunately, I am not your subordinate, and I have no obligation to answer your question.”
When the words were finished, the elevator arrived. Elaina took the lead and stepped in without any intention
of staying with Jalen.
But Jalen did not seem to give up. He followed Elaina into the elevator.
In the elevator, Elaina and Jalen maintained a distance. Neither of them spoke, and the atmosphere was
particularly depressing.
Just as Elaina thought that this silence would continue until they returned home respectively, Jalen spoke,
“Sorry, my tone was not very good just now, but I was just worried about you.
“Saul is not simple. He has bad intentions when he approaches you. I just hope that you don’t get too close to
him.”
Elaina shot Jalen a glance and looked away. “I don’t care if he is simple or not. I don’t care why he gets close
to me. I’m not familiar with him.”
Without waiting for Jalen to speak, Elaina continued, “What’s more, who I want to get close to is my
business. You seem to have no control over it.”
Elaina’s words made Jalen angry. Jalen said, “I’m not joking with you.”
He said it with a serious expression, but Elaina did not care.
“Mr. Halton, you should take care of yourself,” Elaina said with a sneer.
“Dr. Gainsford. I…”
Suddenly, the lights went out, and the surroundings instantly fell into darkness. And the elevator stopped.
