Chapter 379
“Jalen is good, but you are also very outstanding.”
Jenica looked at Elaina with a serious expression. “Ella, you have to be confident in yourself. This is not the Ella I knew before.”
“It’s not that I don’t have confidence in myself.” Elaina waved her hand.
Elaina wondered, why would Jalen like me in the first place? Is it related to the woman in the photo?
Who is that woman?
Elaina had too many questions, but she did not tell Jenica. Elaina did not want Jenica to worry about her.
“How are you? Did Quincy find trouble with your family?” Elaina changed the topic. She did not want to talk about Jalen. The more they discussed, the more annoyed she felt.
Jenica sighed as she drank her coffee. She looked away and said, “I’m alright. Quincy caused some
trouble for us, but we have solved it.”
If Jenica hadn’t solved the problem, she would not be in the mood to drink coffee with Elaina today.
“That’s good. Tell me if you need any help. I will try my best to help you,” Elaina said.
“Okay, don’t worry. I will tell you then,” Jenica replied.
Jenica and Elaina chatted as they tasted their coffee. They didn’t talk about Jalen or Quincy anymore, instead, they tried to get relaxed for a short while.
In the evening, Elaina returned home. The door was tightly closed. It seemed that Jalen had not returned.
Elaina took out her phone and called Jalen. They were still in a relationship. She had to know what he was doing.
After a few beeps, the call was connected. “Hello?”
Jalen’s deep voice came from the other side of the line. He sounded a little tired. Elaina felt distressed. “Still working?”
“Yes.”
“Have you eaten? Shall I bring some food over?” She guessed that Jalen would forget to eat when he was busy.
Elaina thought that Jalen would agree. She had brought him food before. But Jalen refused.
He said, “It’s too late. I’ll ask Graham to buy some food for me. You need a good rest. When I finish
my current work, I will spend more time with you.‘
“Okay.” Elaina did not ask any more questions. But she didn’t feel well.
As if he had felt something, Jalen said in a softer voice, “Ella, my dear, it won’t take too long.”
“Okay, don’t stay up late. Health is more important than work,” Elaina instructed. She told herself that perhaps she was thinking too much.
Jalen is busy at work. I should not have let my imagination run wild just because of a photo.
