Watching them from a distance, I stayed at my post obediently but my mind could not stop thinking that there was something wrong with their attitude towards us.
“Could it be that Alpha Kain and the elders no longer trust us?” I asked myself.
“Impossible, we have yet to exhibit anything suspicious at all… Moreover, the last time they gave us work in connection to the Red Moon Pack was that first plan that we made.”
I furrowed my brows, wallowing in wonder. The discomfort churning inside me bothered me so much that even Eron became uneasy.
Thinking about it for a little more, I started thinking that this may have all started when I saw Lyra as Kain’s wife last time.
Could it be that Lyra and Kain felt something about my actions back then? Did they notice my rage and hostility?
As I asked this question, my heart could not help but pound deeply. A wave of worry and uncertainty rushed over me, a feeling that I hated to experience the most when it came to war with my enemies.
“If that is truly the case then all the more that I have to take more measures.” I pondered.
With that, I mind-linked Alpha Sabre and immediately explained to him everything. The elder Alpha heard my report and worries and thought for a while before deciding.
“I shall swap with you ahead of our agreed schedule, we have to diminish the suspicion drawn to you at least until our provocation comes to fruition… As for the matter of Gauss, I’ll tell Arthur in the meantime and he’ll pass the information to Alpha Chloe once you are able to determine the facts. I could only think of the two of them when it comes to countering poison with poison.”
After that, I waited for the change in guards to exchange with Alpha Sabre and conduct my investigation.
In the middle of the night, I woke up in my quarters and stared at the open windows. There Alpha Sabre stood, almost completely blending with the shadows of the curtains.
‘This is the true stealth skill of the Frost Fang Pack…’ I thought while in a daze.
“Lycan King… are you sure you do not need any reinforcements on your investigation?” Emerging from the dark shadows, Alpha Sabre asked with a tinge of worry.
“It’ll be fine Alpha Sabre… the more people involved the more dangerous it will be. Besides, infiltrating a place where we do not know anything about is highly dangerous as well. Every person that we have right now is precious, I do not wish for needless deaths.” I answered.
Alpha Sabre with his olden eyes looked at me examining my state of mind. I could not help but feel an inkling of similarity as to how Teacher Astor would look at me whenever I said my thoughts to him like this.
“Very well… Just know that you need to come back well and safe.” After some time, Alpha Sabre nodded in agreement.
With that, I stood up preparing to depart but he handed me something, it was a little vial filled with dark-looking powder.
“Alpha Chloe asked me to give this to you… she said that the effect of this powder is to bring those who inhaled the poison into a state of confusion. Once you take the powder out of the bottle, it will immediately diffuse in the air so you can use it in case you are pursued. This is the antidote…”
Explaining how the hallucinogen worked, Alpha Sabre handed me a small piece of thin cloth folded in a square. Inside it were several tablets of antidote which I could use during the infiltration.
“Each antidote lasts an hour…” Alpha Sabre reminded me.
“I understand, Thank you Alpha Sabre…” Keeping the poison and the antidote in a safe place, I gave Alpha Sabre a signal that I should be going.
“I pray that the Moon goddess will guide you.” Alpha Sabre put on the Silver mask as I flew out of the window escaping to the woods.
