Chapter 709
“I am going to visit you, send me your brother’s address.”
Emily got a bit anxious, “You don’t have to come, I’m not at my brother’s place.”
“Not there? Aren’t you taking care of your mom at your brother’s place?” Estelle felt something was off, “Tell me now, or I’ll call your mom.”
Emily hesitated for a moment, and gave Estelle the address.
Estelle drove straight to where Emily lived.
It took her almost an hour to get there from downtown, a rundown neighborhood near the suburbs, even older than the one Emily and Mathilda had rented before.
Following the narrow and messy stairs, Estelle knocked on the door for a while before Emily came to open it.
Estelle was stunned to see Emily, who had lost a lot of weight, her face sallow and haggard, and she looked away subconsciously when she saw Estelle
Entering the house, it was a small single apartment about ten square meters, with only one bedroom, one kitchen, no sunny windows, and damp and cold inside.
Seeing Emily’s pale face, Estelle helped her sit down on the bed and frowned, “Are you sick?”
Emily shook her head, “No!”
She wasn’t sick, just the reaction during pregnancy. She had been throwing up for more than ten days, and coupled with the exhaustion of delivering food, she appeared very weak.
“Let me get you some water” Estelle turned to the kitchen, opened the fridge, and found it empty.
Estelle got Emily some water, and asked, “You told me to take good care of myself, but is that your way to take care of yourself? Emily, is your mom’s illness serious and needs a lot of money?”
Otherwise, why would Emily work so hard?
In just over a month, she had become like this!
Emily’s face was frighteningly pale, she shook her head holding the cup. “My mom’s illness is fine, my brother borrowed money to renovate the house, and I want to pay it back as soon as possible.”
When Estelle got the medicine and came back, she found Emily receiving an IV in the ward. She was still unconscious, pale, and painfully thin. Estelle sat by the bed, watching Emily, feeling very conflicted.
Emily had been pregnant for two months, which meant she had been pregnant when she was at the Royal Mansion. She didn’t have a boyfriend, and her life was simple, so could it be Charlie’s child?
When it was getting dark, Jonathan called Estelle. She just said she was with Emily, going back later, and couldn’t have dinner together tonight Jonathan said unhappily. “I asked you first!”
Estelle appeased Jonathan for a few words, then hung up.
As soon as she put down the phone, Emily woke up.
Estelle stood up and asked with a gentle smile, “Feeling better? Want some water?”
Emily was still very weak, shaking her head feebly.
sily and asked directly. “Is the baby Charlie’s?”
