Chapter 668 I Hope You Can Ask for My Opinion Next Time.
She was stunned by his questioning and, after regaining her
composure, shook her head with red eyes. “Huston, have you forgotten how much your family opposed us being together? I can’t believe them.”
Her trembling and choked voice was like a bucket of cold water poured over his frustration, extinguishing it completely.
Everything that had happened in the past was vivid in her mind. It was his own fault, so who could he blame?
The atmosphere in the train carriage was filled with a suppressed and somber mood. Neither of them spoke, and the air was thick with the imminent danger of an explosion. They were both so suppressed, reaching the point of a rebound.
Huston was in a particularly bad mood, and so was Evelyn.
“You still have feelings for me, so why aren’t you with me?” His thin lips carried a cold and distant air whenever he spoke, yet
it made people want to get closer.
He had asked her this question before, but she always
avoided answering it. But now…
Evelyn gently closed her eyes and softly said, “I’m not sure.””
The man frowned, his gaze fixed on her face. “Not sure about what?”
“I’m not sure if this kind of life is what I want, and I’m not sure if it will be the same as before if we’re together.”
Her voice sounded somewhat ethereal in the quiet train carriage. She spoke the truth from the depths of her heart, but it was precisely because of that that it was heart-wrenching.
“What do you mean?”
“I don’t know if I should continue with you. If we’re just together haphazardly, it would be better not to start again.” She carefully expressed her considerations, making him see how much she had thought about it. “With Lucas now, every step has to be more cautious. I have to be responsible for my child. It’s not something that can be decided with a few words or understood in a couple of days.”
“That’s you.” The man’s black eyes locked onto her gaze. “I know very well what I’m saying, doing, and wanting.”
His intense gaze made Evelyn unable to bear it. “Give me
some time, don’t force me.”
With a worried expression filling her face at the thought of the Lloyd family, Evelyn couldn’t help but speak up, “In situations like today, I hope next time you can ask for my opinion.”
The conversation had become tense and difficult to continue.
