She seemed a bit taken aback when he called her "sister," raising her eyebrows in confusion as she glanced at him. Applicant Number Two's expression turned to sheer horror! The final "okay" got stuck in his throat, neither going up nor down, turning his face beet red!
...
Twenty minutes later, she stumbled out of the interview room, looking utterly defeated, and let out a wail of despair. The other designers, seeing her in such a state, couldn't help but grow even more curious. Soon enough, the third, fourth, and fifth candidates went in...
Without exception, each one entered full of hope and nerves and came out questioning their life choices. This only made those still waiting even more curious. What on earth was going on in there? Why did everyone come out looking like they’d seen a ghost?
But soon, they found out why. Who would have guessed that the legendary Rose was actually just a young girl? If they hadn’t seen it with their own eyes, they’d have thought people were out of their minds.
Before long, all the candidates had been interviewed. Out of all of them, only Number Two and Number Eight barely made the cut. As soon as the results were out, Howell had someone notify all the designers. Those not chosen wore looks of disappointment, though they'd braced themselves for it. If getting into Rose's Studio was easy, it wouldn’t be such a coveted spot among top-tier designers.
"Number One Taylor, Number Thirteen Jane, Number Twenty-One Monica, please stay," an employee announced. "Rose wants to see you."
The named individuals were flattered and surprised. Why did Rose want to see them? With a mix of nerves and excitement, they followed the employee, leaving under the envious gaze of the others.
