It was clear as day that Shelly's wish to take over International Glam was a bad move at this point. The company was in shambles after Jasmine's tragic death, and with Shelly being from the Bryant family, her taking charge would scream to the world that the Stonnell and Bryant families were joining forces, something Fiona was keen on avoiding.
International Glam was originally set up to give Jasmine a leg up within the Bryant family, so they wouldn't be so hung up on their social standing. Now that Jasmine was resting in the Bryant family mausoleum, regardless of Shelly's role in her story, Fiona was adamant about keeping Shelly out of this mess.
“I’ve got someone better suited to take over International Glam. Your future is with the Bryant Group,” Fiona declared, shutting down Shelly’s proposal without a second thought.
“Why can’t I take over? I can step down from being the Bryant Group's heir,” Shelly argued, genuinely puzzled. If Jasmine could do it, so could she. She clung to Fiona’s sleeve, pleading, “I don't get what you're worried about. Jasmine died saving me. We’re both Bryant family. Why can’t I finish what she started?”
“Let go,” Fiona's voice was soft but icy.
“Fiona, I’m serious. Why are you so against this?” Shelly tightened her grip, insisting, “If Jasmine could do it, so can I.”
Fiona was about to leave but paused, shooting her a sarcastic look. “First, learn your economics before you talk to me about this.”
She shook off Shelly’s hand with an unprecedented coldness. “Do you really think the only difference between you and Jasmine was her martial arts skills?”
