The young girl was too young to appreciate the joys of sipping coffee, and he didn't hold it against her.
"Ms. Fiona, one of our clinic's doctors will be here soon. If you have a moment, could you share some of your wisdom with them?" Dr. Shepherd said, rubbing his hands together enthusiastically. "In this group, there's a young Dr. Wegge. She's only twenty-seven, but her medical skills are impressive. I heard she just pulled off an amazing surgery!"
Fiona listened with only half an ear, not really responding.
"Later, Ms. Fiona, maybe you could ask her some questions and give her a bit of guidance."
"Sure," Fiona replied casually.
Dr. Shepherd had noticed her potential and wanted to nurture it. Fiona valued talent too and was happy to lend a hand if the talent was genuine. It was all about women supporting women, after all.
Seeing her agreement, Dr. Shepherd looked absolutely thrilled. Just then, there was a knock on the door.
"They're here!" he announced. "Come in!" he called out.
The door swung open, and a bunch of doctors filed in. Fiona was nestled on a tall couch facing the desk, with her back to the door, so none of the newcomers spotted her right away.
They glanced around but didn't see her.
"Director, where's this miracle doctor we've heard about?" an eager older man asked.
