"Amy, you've got it all wrong," Shelly said, casually slinging an arm over Amy's shoulder while holding onto Fiona's hand. Her lips curled into a playful grin as she added, "This guy's a real mystery back in the States."
"Oh really? What's so mysterious about him?"
Their light-hearted exchange hinted to Fiona that they were up to no good, and she decided not to waste her energy on it.
"I heard there's this family in the States that moved from a small town about thirty years ago. Word is they stumbled upon a huge fortune. The year they arrived, they were throwing money around, just trying to cement their spot. But nobody knows where the money came from," Shelly shared, causing quite a buzz. Even Fiona couldn't resist raising an eyebrow as she sized up the young man in front of them.
Thirty years ago? Could this be linked to Jackson's parents? It seemed too coincidental.
Nash, standing nearby, looked ready to chime in, but Fiona gently grabbed his arm, shaking her head slightly, signaling him to hold off.
Fiona was up to speed with recent happenings in the States, but digging up stuff from thirty years ago was a different ball game.
"I've heard that too," Amy chimed in.
Their well-timed performance left the young man looking as pale as a sheet, his earlier calm completely shattered.
