Beck was practically seeing red. "Ms. Abbey, are you so desperate that you’ve gotta go after someone else’s fiancé? My boss has barely even seen you, and you have the nerve to say this without a hint of shame!"
His words cut sharper than Moss’s, filled with contempt for the woman dead set on wrecking his boss’s relationship with Ms. Flora.
The crowd's expressions shifted. Was Abbey lying?
Failing to win over the man she wanted, was she now trying to tarnish Flora’s reputation?
After all, Connor hadn’t spared Abbey a single glance, while his eyes brimmed with affection and tenderness whenever he looked at Flora.
"You calling my man your fiancé? What, so desperate for a guy you’ve lost your mind?"
Flora held back Connor, who was on the edge of losing it, signaling him to stay calm.
Women’s issues should be handled by women.
She stepped forward slowly, approaching Abbey with a smile that was anything but friendly.
Elijah quickly stepped in front of Abbey. "Flora! What do you think you’re doing? My lady was engaged to Mr. Connor; they were supposed to be togeth—"
He didn’t finish his sentence before he was sent flying!
The crowd gasped in shock!
Flora didn’t hold back!
She’d kicked him clear off his feet!
Joy instinctively clutched her stomach, feeling the phantom pain.
"Connor, come here."
Flora called out suddenly.
Connor hurried to her side.
"Do you like me, or her?" Flora lazily pointed between herself and Abbey.
"You. I only want you! Her, she’s got nothing to do with me; she’s the one who keeps clinging to me!" Connor, desperate, wrapped his arms around Flora’s waist, explaining.
