Joy was momentarily taken aback by Flora's outburst, but quickly regained her composure. What could Flora do about it? Both Mr. Tanner and Ms. Abbey had decided to let it go, and the higher-ups seemed to agree. Flora was on her own; what kind of trouble could she possibly cause?
The room fell into an eerie silence. Just then, Shawn's voice interrupted, "Mr. Connor?"
Jules looked towards the door and saw Connor stride in, with Moss and Beck trailing behind him.
"Connor."
Flora's fierce demeanor melted away as she moved towards him and threw herself into his arms. His hands, calloused from work, gently caressed her back.
"Connor," Abbey approached with an overly familiar tone, "I was just about to look for you. Your mother called earlier, asking how we were and mentioned that we should go back and get married."
Dr. Ray, Jules, and Shawn all frowned in unison.
What was going on?
Why was Abbey talking about marrying Connor?
Wasn't he Flora's fiancé?
The rest of the group, including Mr. Tanner, looked equally perplexed. Although they didn't know the details of Flora and Connor's relationship, it was obvious to anyone watching that they were together.
Yet, Abbey was suggesting she was the one to marry Connor, apparently with their parents' blessing.
What was Flora's role in this?
Connor's expression darkened, his cold gaze locking onto Abbey.
Flora looked equally displeased.
