Felix drove smoothly through the rainslicked streets of Silvercre City, occasionally glancing at me in the rearview mirror. The silence between us was comfortable, not awkward.

Miss Chase, may I ask why you’re not living at the Chase Pack house?Felix finally asked, his tone curious but respectful

I looked up, surprised by the question. I moved out two months after returning to Silvercrest from averseas. That’s unusual for a pack ember, especially the Alpha’s daughter,he commented.

My grandmother left me some real estate,I explained, watching raindrops race down the window. I chose this riverside condo. Far enough from the pack house to breathe freely.

Felix nodded, understanding in his eyes. Independence is valuable.

Especially when your family doesn’t understand you,I said softly, more to myself than to him.

As we pulled up to my building, Felix quickly exited the car and opened my door with a formal bow that seemned second nature to him. As I stepped out, he held up a finger.

One moment, Miss Chase.

He retrieved a small, elegantly wrapped box from the trunk and handed it to me.

What’s this?I asked, surprised by the weight of the package.

Moonlight healing salve for facial wounds,Felix explained. Mr. Blackwood instructed me to give it to you. It’s specially made by the therapists at the Blackwood Pack so effective it can’t be purchased outside.

I felt a strange warmth spread through my chest at the gesture. Please thank Dominic for me.

Felix hesitated, shifting his weight slightly. There’s something else Mr. Blackwood wanted me to mention.

I raised an eyebrow, waiting.

Your adopted sister, Victoria,he began carefully. She has developedfeelings for Mr. Blackwood.

My eyes widened in genuine surprise. Victoria? Are you sure?

She has courted him repeatedly,Felix confirmed. Mr. Blackwood has turned her down several times, but she persists.

I couldn’t help but laugh bitterly. That’s rich, considering herrelationship with my brother Henry.

Felix’s expression remained neutral, but I caught a flicker of surprise in his eyes.

I believe,he continued delicately, this might be relevant to your current situation.

How so?I asked, genuinely confused.

If I may be so bold,Felix said, lowering his voice, you could use the favor Mr. Blackwood owes you to ask him to marry you.

I nearly dropped the box of salve. Excuse me?

Think about it,he continued smoothly. You would become Ethan’s aunt and the future Luna of the Blackwood Pack. would outrank him in both familial and pack relationships.

The idea was so absurd I almost laughed, but a small part of me found it appealing. Marrying Dominic would certainly be the ultimate revenge against Victoria.

Plus,Felix added, you would claim the Alpha that Victoria wants. A fitting revenge for her setting you up tonight.

I shook my head, dismissing the wild suggestion. That’screative, but Impractical. Dominic deserves better than a marriage of

convenience.

Felix bowed slightly. Just a thought, Miss Chase. Mr. Blackwood values your wellbeing

After Felix left, I entered my apartment, the silence enveloping me like a heavy blanket. The events of the night the confrontation at the Chase Pack Mansion, the incident at the Moonlight Club had left me emotionally drained.

I made my way to my study, retrieving my Betrayal Ledger from the bottom drawer of my desk. The black leatherbound journal was heavier than I remembered, weighed down with years of documented disappointments.

Sinking into my sofa, I flipped to the last entry, dated just before our cold war began. The memory surfaced with painful clarity.

Ethan and I had been at the bridal boutique. I was trying on wedding dresses, feeling hopeful for perhaps the first time in months. Just as I was changing into the third dress a beautiful Aine with delicate beading Ethan’s phone rang.

It was Melissa, claiming she’d been in a car accident. Without hesitation, without even seeing me in the dress, Ethan had left to find her.

It wasn’t the first time. Melissa had a talent for creating emergencies during my important moments with Ethan. And every single time, he left. Every. Single. Time.

I stared at the deduction in my journal: -98.

Taking my pen, I crossed it out and wrote -100 beside it. Then, with a sudden surge of determination, I tore the pages from the journal one by one. The ripping sound was satisfying, cathartic.

When I finished, I gathered the torn pieces and dumped them into the trash. It felt symbolic, purging Ethan from my system.

I moved through my apartment with newfound purpose, systematically removing every trace of him. The small gifts he’d given me over the years into the trash. Photos of him on my wall and in albums removed and discarded.

Even the unsent gifts I’d bought for my family during our relationship packaged up for donation. I didn’t want reminders of any of them.

By the time I finished, I was exhausted but lighter somehow. I started cleaning the apartment, needing physical activity to match my emotional purge.

The doorbell rang, startling me. It was nearly midnight who would be visiting at this hour?

I opened the door to find Paige Sullivan, her expression a mixture of concern and fury. Without a word, she pulled me into a fierce hug.

Ryan sent me the video, she whispered against my hair. I came back as soon as I could.

I hadn’t realized how close I was to breaking until that moment. In the safety of my best friend’s embrace, the tears I’d been

holding back all evening finally broke free.

(Dominic’s POV)

I checked my watch as Felix approached our private table at the Moonlight Club. Ryan had returned to the card game with some other pack members, leaving me alone to receive my Beta’s report

How is she?I asked without preamble.

Felix stood at attention, his posture reflecting his military background. Miss Chase arrived home safely. I delivered the healing

salve as instructed.

And her reaction to yoursuggestion?I kept my tone neutral, though I was genuinely curious.

She dismissed it as impractical,Felix reported. Though not before considering it briefly.

I nodded, not surprised. Amber Chase was too principled for such manipulation, even if it would benefit her.
