Sophia Celebrates Your Husband’s Birthday
Sophia Celebrates Your Husband’s Birthday
(Melanie’s POV)
I first understood the term “white–eyed wolf” deeply because of my biological sister, Iris Maple.

Iris was always the rebellious one in our family. While I followed pack traditions and married Harrison as arranged, she ran off to pursue filmmaking. Our parents disowned her for bringing shame to the Maple name.
When she struggled in those early years, sleeping in her car and eating instant noodles, I offered to help. She refused every time.
“I don’t need your charity, Melanie,” she’d said coldly. “I’d rather starve than compromise my principles.”
Even when she became successful, she never forgot to criticize our parents at family gatherings. She’d lecture me about raising my daughters properly.
“Don’t let Amber be like me someday, disappointed with you, then you’ll know what regret is,” she’d warned years ago.
At the time, I dismissed it. Iris was just bitter about her own choices.
But now I realized that Amber, too, had become a “little white–eyed wolf” in my eyes. She was influenced by Iris, always questioning pack traditions and challenging authority.
Meanwhile, my adopted daughter Victoria remained my “warm cotton–padded jacket.” Sweet, obedient, grateful for everything I’d given her.
Or so I thought.
Now, staring at Victoria kissing my son in this moonlit parking lot, I felt my world crumbling.
“HENRY CHASE!” I roared, grabbing him by the shoulder and yanking him away from Victoria. “What in the Moon Goddess’s name do you think you’re doing?”
My hand connected with Victoria’s cheek with a sharp crack. She stumbled backward, her hand flying to her face.
But one slap wasn’t enough. The rage consuming me demanded more.
I struck her again, harder this time.
“You’ve been in the family since you were 12, and in two months, you’ll be 31. How many years has that been? Almost twenty years! Twenty years!”
My voice cracked with emotion. “How have I treated you? I neglected my own biological daughter, I indulged you in everything, I always prioritized you. Is this how you repay me?”
The fear of scandal overwhelmed me. If this got out to the supernatural community, we’d be ruined. The Werewolf Council would investigate. Our pack’s reputation would be destroyed.
I lunged at Victoria, my fists connecting with her shoulders and arms.
“What good are you doing? You’re seducing my son! Even if you’re not blood–related, you’re siblings in name! If this gets out to the Werewolf Council, you’ll be shameless, and your brother will be ruined, ruined!”
(Henry’s POV)
My mother’s sudden appearance shocked me back to reality. The guilt I’d been carrying for years crashed down on me all at once.
I stepped in front of Victoria, catching my mother’s arms before she could strike again.
“Mom, this has nothing to do with Victoria; it’s my delusion, it’s my failure to control myself, it’s all my fault.”
The words tumbled out desperately. I couldn’t let Victoria take all the blame when I was equally responsible.

My mother’s face went white. Her eyes filled with disbelief and horror.
Then she collapsed.
I caught her as she fell, her body limp in my arms. “Mom! Mom, wake up!”

Victoria stood frozen, her cheek red from the slaps. She looked around wildly, as if trying to understand how this had happened.
“How did she know to come here?” Victoria whispered.
That’s when I saw Amber emerge from behind a pillar, waving mockingly at Victoria. Behind her stood Naomi Warren, her face pale with shock.
My stomach dropped. They’d been watching the entire time.
Amber nudged Naomi forward. “Go on,” she urged. “Tell him what you really think.”
Naomi’s voice shook as she spoke, but her words cut deep.
“Henry Chase, you’re disgusting! You made me believe you were an honorable man, that this mating was about duty and respect. But you’re nothing but a liar!”
Tears streamed down her face. “You humiliated me! Made me think something was wrong with me because I couldn’t feel attracted to you. Now I know why – you were already in love with your sister!”
–
Her voice rose to a wail. “How could you do this to me? How could you make me feel like I was the problem?”
I found myself in chaos. My mother unconscious in my arms, Victoria trembling from shock, and Naomi crying hysterically.
Any explanation would be futile. The truth was laid bare for everyone to see.
My mother stirred, her eyes fluttering open. She heard Naomi’s accusations and her face crumpled with regret.
“I should have pushed for the mating ceremony earlier,” she whispered. “Before this could happen.”
Then panic set in. “Henry, you have to stop her! If she tells Alpha Warren about this scandal, we’re finished!”
I glanced at Victoria one last time, seeing the devastation in her eyes. Then I ran after Naomi, knowing I had to prevent this from spreading to the Warren Pack.
(Victoria’s POV)
As Henry disappeared into the darkness chasing Naomi, I stood alone with the unconscious Melanie.
Amber approached us, her smile triumphant.
“How is it, Mother? Do you believe me now? I told you Victoria wasn’t a good person.”
Melanie struggled to sit up, her face filled with remorse.
“You warned me,” she whispered. “You tried to tell me about Victoria and Henry, but I didn’t listen. I thought you were just being jealous and spiteful.”
Amber pulled out her phone, showing Melanie a text message.
“I sent you this fifteen minutes ago, telling you to come to the parking lot. I knew you’d want to see this for yourself.”
Melanie read the message with growing horror, Amber had orchestrated this entire confrontation.
“I have to find Naomi,” Melanie said, struggling to her feet. “I have to make sure she doesn’t tell her father.”
She hurried off, leaving me alone with Amber.
As Amber turned to leave, I grabbed her arm.
