Healing my disabled husband novel Chapter 772

Chapter 772 Exceptionally Outstanding

As they arrived at the grocery store, Beata held onto Averi's hand as they walked ahead together while discussing what food they should buy.
"We definitely need oil-braised prawns! And steamed yellow croaker fish... braised pork belly... tomato beef brisket..."
Averi listened but couldn't help but laugh inwardly - this girl clearly couldn't cook!
She said, "Braised pork belly and tomato beef brisket, both dishes take time. Are you really planning to let your brother cook both of them?"
Beata wrinkled her little brows and said, "Can't we cook both? But I really want to eat them."
Averi regretfully said, "If it were a different place, maybe it would be possible, but it's difficult to do it in my kitchen."
She lived alone and only used simple cookware when cooking at home. It was the bare minimum.
Beata hadn't really noticed this. She didn't understand these things and simply assumed that all kitchens in the world should be like hers, with everything they needed at their fingertips.
But since Averi had said so, she would think carefully about it. There must be a way to solve this problem.
After thinking for a while, Beata finally had a clever idea.
Beata said, "Then, Averi, why don't you stay at my place tonight?"
Averi was stunned for a moment and looked suspiciously at Beata, saying, "Wasn't your plan to go and pet cats?"
Beata smiled and said, "Petting cats is not an immediate issue. We need to fill our stomachs first before we have the energy to pet cats. Come on, let's go home together."
Averi smiled helplessly and said, "Are you really willing to work so hard just for a meal?"
Beata nodded vigorously and said, "Yes, yes, Averi, let's go home together."
River approached and heard Beata whining to Averi.
He looked at Beata strangely and asked, "What are you talking about?"
"I'm saying that I want Averi to come home with us," Beata said.
River raised an eyebrow and was speechless about Beata's suggestion.
Averi was also stunned. This little girl really made her feel a little helpless.
River looked at Averi and asked, "Are you coming?"
Averi didn't know what to say.
This was a very direct question.
She said, "Beata wants to go pet cats."
River said, "Then let's go pick up the cats and come back home."
Both Averi and Beata were struck dumb.
Both of them looked at River in disbelief that these words had come out of River's mouth.
Beata's eyes lit up and she practically jumped to River's side, asking, "Really? Really? River, you really agree to let me bring the cats home?"
After saying it, River regretted it a bit. He hadn't even thought through why he had blurted out those words. But now that they were out there, he couldn't take them back. He nodded and said, "Only one."
If Beata brought all five of Averi's cats home with her, chaos would ensue. There was no way River would allow that to happen.
But Beata was already overjoyed at the prospect of bringing one cat home.
She immediately turned to Averi and asked, "Averi, is it okay? Can I bring the cat to my house?"
Averi could only nod and smile in response, "Sure."
Beata jumped up and down in excitement right there in the aisle like a little kid.
River and Averi both looked at her with indulgent expressions on their faces - they didn't realize how much they resembled parents at that moment.
After Beata finished celebrating her victory, she linked arms with each of them happily as they continued shopping together.
In truth though there wasn't much need for grocery shopping since the Knight Family had its own vegetable garden as well as a fish pond and small-scale farm where everything was fresh from farm-to-table.
Even if something wasn't quite ripe yet, someone would deliver it specially so that everything they ate was always fresh.
But Beata believed that going grocery shopping together could help strengthen their relationships - she planned on writing about this experience in her book later on too!
So even though they'd already decided to go back home, she insisted on continuing their trip through the aisles anyway.
At first, both River and Averi were just playing along because seeing Beata happy made them happy too, but soon enough, everyone got into picking out ingredients for dinner together!
Beata told River what dishes she wanted him to cook for dinner while emphasizing, "River, you have make sure you cook these yourself! Don't let anyone else do it!"
River just sighed inwardly, thinking this girl really needed something more productive than planning meals all day long or else he'd never get any peace himself!
As he listened to her words, it was clear that Beata was intentionally teasing him.
But despite knowing that this young girl had impure motives and twisted thoughts, he indulged her and didn't say much.
Seeing this, Beata became even happier.
She was convinced that using River's method of winning over Averi's stomach would also win over her heart - it was just too perfect.
Beata's eyes wandered between the two of them as she felt joyous and contented. She couldn't help but imagine how great it would be if they were already married.
But she understood the saying "haste makes waste" - she couldn't be too greedy. The current situation already satisfied her enough. After all, what she wanted was a lifetime commitment.
Picking out ingredients wasn't something Beata excelled at, so she just randomly grabbed whatever caught her eye.
Averi had some opinions on certain items but didn't know enough about them to voice them properly.
River saw his sister messing around with these ingredients and said in exasperation, "Just tell me what you want instead of trying to choose yourself."
He really disliked the quality of these items. Nothing looked fresh or high-quality enough for him. If not for Beata being excited about shopping together, he would have preferred going home instead.
Beata pouted but obediently followed River's lead in selecting better quality items from those he wouldn't normally consider buying himself.
She then nudged Averi's arm and exclaimed, "Averi! Isn't my brother amazing? He knows everything and is so talented!"
