Chapter 773 You Are The Best
Averi still found it difficult to adapt to such praise from her towards River.
However, there wasn't anything else she could say in front of Beata besides agreeing with how talented River truly was - especially when seeing how skilled he appeared while picking out ingredients for their meal tonight.
However, she had never thought of River in this way before and naturally would not have thought that this was a normal thing.
At this moment, she was truly shocked.
Although Beata did not hear Averi praise her brother together with her, when she saw the look in Averi's eyes falling on River, she could feel that Averi had a very strong appreciation for her brother.
With this feeling, everything became much easier.
It was actually quite easy to go from appreciation to admiration.
Just imagine, if someone didn't have an appreciation for another person, how could they possibly have an admiration for them?
Beata always believed that admiring one's partner was one of the most important aspects of a relationship.
Therefore, seeing that Averi appreciated River, Beata was almost bursting with happiness.
She really wanted to become the marriage registry so that they could get married immediately.
She couldn't wait any longer.
She wanted to see them get married.
Beata was screaming uncontrollably inside, but still pretended to be calm on the outside as a quiet beautiful girl.
River picked out the ingredients and turned around, meeting Averi's appreciative gaze.
He was a little surprised, but in the next second, the corners of his mouth unconsciously curved up.
This was the first time Averi had shown her emotions so directly in front of him.
It made him feel quite satisfied with his vanity.
But River was a man who hid his feelings deeply. Even if he smiled slightly, it was not something that others could detect.
He pushed the cart over and asked, "Is there anything else you need to buy?"
Beata suppressed her ecstatic feelings and blinked her eyes, looking at River and saying, "River, can I go buy some snacks?"
Beata discovered that in front of Averi, River always gave her face.
Although he already doted on her enough, which could be said to have reached a level of indulgence, he was still very strict in regard to eating snacks.
He cared very much about Beata's body, which was also because Beata's physical condition was not very good.
Therefore, River often strictly controlled her diet.
Of course, Beata would sneak around and eat some snacks behind River's back. As long as he didn't catch her, she was a carefree beauty who could eat whatever she wanted.
Now that Averi was here, Beata felt like pushing her luck a little more. She wanted to see if River would be even more lenient with her because of Averi's presence.
River knew exactly what Beata was up to. He raised an eyebrow warningly at her.
This girl had been getting too bold lately. He needed to remind her that there were certain things she shouldn't do.
Beata looked at River pitifully and said, "River, can I please have some? I promise I'll only eat a little bit and I won't eat anything spicy."
She even pulled Averi over and pushed her towards River, saying, "Besides Averi is our guest today! Don't we have any snacks for her"
River just looked at them both in amusement while they waited for his response.
He couldn't help but think about all the snacks that must have disappeared while he wasn't home. It gave him a headache just thinking about it.
He knew it was a bad idea to let the two of them get so close. Now everything seemed out of control.
Averi finally realized that River didn't like Beata eating snacks so much when he spoke up about it.
She felt guilty because she had given Beata plenty of snacks before without knowing this fact.
Averi looked at River apologetically and said, "I'm sorry I didn't know that Beata couldn't have any snack."
River coughed slightly before responding, "It's okay. You don't need to apologize since you didn't know anything about this issue. She's just spoiled."
Beata pouted slightly under his gaze then muttered softly, "That's not true."
River glared at her before saying firmly, "You can eat whatever you want, but remember not to go overboard."
Beata immediately jumped out from behind Averi, shouting excitedly, "Hooray! You're the best!"
She completely ignored poor Averi as she ran off happily towards the snack area.
Averi stayed where she was, feeling embarrassed while River watched after Beata disappearing form view with mixed feelings of amusement and exasperation on his face.
This girl had a love for all sorts of strange things. Even though she knew they weren't good for her body, she just couldn't resist them.
River turned his head to look at Averi and asked, "Do all you girls like that kind of stuff?"
Averi blushed a little. Other girls might not like it, like Aimee and Matilda. But she loved it more than anything else in the world - even more than meals.
"It depends on the person," Averi said. "Not all girls like it."
"But you do," River said.
Averi blushed even harder. It was hard to deny that fact.
She thought about it for a moment before saying to River, "Beata did eat quite a bit of snacks when she was at my house, but don't worry. They were relatively healthy snacks."
And this was true. Averi always picked out carefully snacks made with high-quality ingredients and minimal artificial additives.
They might not have tasted as good as regular junk food at first, but once people got used to them or if people didn't eat much junk food in general, then they were very enjoyable.
River didn't know much about these things so he almost wanted to say something snarky about how there was such a thing as healthy snacks but he held back his tongue.
"Next time, tell her where you bought them from, so she doesn't keep buying those random ones," River said instead.
River knew Beata liked sneaking around eating snacks sometimes.
He caught her doing it occasionally but most times let her be.
Keeping Beata happy and healthy was his top priority in life ever since their childhood days when Beata struggled with health issues growing up. That made him appreciate every day with her even more, now that she was healthier than ever before!
So most of the time, he would give Beata some freedom, unless what she did directly impacted her health negatively!
However, when River saw Beata returning directly with a basket of snacks, he was still speechless after all.
This girl, relying on Averi's presence today, really interpreted the words "have nothing to fear" to the fullest.
He was really speechless.
Beata came over with a smile, put the basket directly on the shopping cart, and said, "River, I don't take all of these for myself. They are for entertaining Averi, so don't be angry with me."
Averi was struck dumb.
Well, she was still a good excuse.
River didn't what to say too.
Okay, this girl didn't understand what it meant to settle accounts afterwards.
He didn't believe that Averi could still be her shield for the rest of her life.
Beata observed River's expression, and after confirming that he accepted her snacks, she happily moved to Averi's side, took her arm affectionately, and said, "Averi, you are the best."
