Chapter 782 What Are You Hiding From Me?

The next day, Averi slept straight through until noon. She never thought she would be so exaggerated. Before falling asleep, she reminded herself to set five alarms to wake up and not sleep so excessively at Knight's Mansion. However, the fact was that she didn't hear any of the alarm sounds.
When Averi finally woke up and saw the time, she felt like dying on the spot. It was too embarrassing to sleep until noon as a guest in someone else's home. She wished someone could knock her out and spare her from this social death.
But avoiding the problem wouldn't solve anything. Although it may be shameful but useful to escape from reality, it wasn't suitable for her.
Averi took a deep breath and got out of bed to freshen up before leaving her room. Luckily, she didn't run into anyone on the way or else she would have been even more embarrassed.
She went to Beata's room door and knocked on it, hoping that Beata was there, because being with her would make Averi feel more comfortable at least a little bit.
Who would have thought that Beata was nowhere to be found, and after she knocked on the door for a while, there was no response.
Averi was about to tough it out and go downstairs when she was ready for the disapproving gaze from the Knights.
Just then, the door behind her opened.
Averi turned around at the sound and saw River walking out. She instantly became even more uneasy.
She cleared her throat and said, "Um, sorry about that. I..."
"Are you hungry? I saved you some breakfast or do you want to just have lunch?" River interrupted her.
Averi hesitated for a moment. It was already lunchtime by any measure of time. But theoretically speaking, it could still be considered breakfast as well.
She forced a smile and said, "Either one is fine."
River commented with a smirk on his face. "Looks like your stomach is doing pretty well."
Averi looked at him skeptically, wondering how he came up with this conclusion.
It wasn't until they arrived at the dinning room that she understood what he meant by tasting their hearty lunch menu which contrasted sharply with their light breakfast fare earlier in the day.
If it weren't for her good appetite today, she wouldn't have been able to handle it so easily!
However, Averi's attention was not on this.
All she could think about was how River's words were just teasing her.
She probably really did sleep too much.
Averi silently swore to herself that she would never spend the night at Knight's Mansion again.
Soon after they arrived at the dining room, Beata came back.
It looked like she had been playing with the cat in the yard and was sweating profusely from it.
River didn't react much when he saw the cat in her arms this time around. It seemed like he had already become desensitized to it and could fully adapt to its presence now.
Beata obviously noticed this as well, so she deliberately brought the cat into the dining room and sat down on a chair with it.
River raised an eyebrow at her but didn't say anything. This made Beata even more reckless.
She picked up her utensils and prepared to eat but finally heard an expressionless voice from her brother saying, "Go wash your hands."
Beata giggled and stuck out her tongue before obediently getting up to wash her hands. Her brother was really mean.
After leaving the dining room with the cat, Beata still sent it back to her own room so that this little thing wouldn't cause trouble inside their home again. She didn't want River's attitude towards it that he had worked hard to change once again revert back.
As soon as she finished washing her hands, she came over to the dining room to eat.
Beata stuffed shrimp balls into her mouth while looking at Averi and saying, "Averi, what were you doing last night? My brother said you didn't go to bed until four o'clock. What are you two hiding from me?"
