Chapter 421 

When Kerri and Brayden showed up, they overheard Agnes and Jared talking about getting divorced. 

When they heard the word divorce, their faces immediately dropped. 

They thought it was just a small quarrel between husband and wife, but they didn’t think it would be serious enough to make them divorce. They used to be so sweet together. 

When Agnes was filming in S City, Jared even contemplated moving his whole office there. 

He got a good ribbing from his buddies for that for a while. 

Once they got into the house, Kerri went straight into Agnes‘ bedroom. 

She directly asked the doubts in her heart, “Agnes, what happened? Things have gotten so bad that you guys are talking about divorce? That’s a huge deal for any couple, let alone the Whitfield family. Do you realize what that means?” 

Kerri knew all too well about this. 

She had tried many ways to divorce Brayden before. 

But there was no way for her to divorce Brayden. Instead somehow Brayden, who used to couldn’t care less about her, turned into a clingy octopus that she just couldn’t shake off. 

Agnes finally spoke up and told Kerri all about it. Kerri was shocked to hear that, “The fact that your mother died, that there’s a mystery to it, that Alyssa was behind your mother’s death, it’s terrible.” 

Agnes continued, “I guess Alyssa didn’t know things would be this bad. She was just trying to tarnish my mum’s reputation, but didn’t know my mum was battling depression at the time, and she took her own life because of it. In the end, my mum’s death was caused by her intentional sabotage. I can’t forgive her.” 

Kerri was shocked to hear this. It seemed like something out of a TV show, but the reality was even harsher. Why did it have to be someone from the Whitfield family who caused Agnes‘ mum’s death? 

And Agnes somehow ended up marrying into the Whitfield family. 

After mulling it over, Kerri said earnestly, “But this was Alyssa’s doing, not Jared’s. Think about it, at that time, he was a child. Everyone had their own independence. You can’t blame him for what his sister did. That’s not fair to him.” 

Agnes had a pained expression on her face. 

She anxiously ran her fingers through her hair, “I know it has nothing to do with him, but he’s Alyssa’s brother. Even if we don’t divorce now, Alyssa won’t let someone who poses a threat to her be her brother’s wife. Our relationship is beyond repair, Alyssa and I are enemies now. I don’t want Jared to be caught in the 

crossfire.”
