Chapter 437
Kerri’s gaze was flitting between the two of them.
Although they both seemed calm, the atmosphere in the room was as chilly as an ice cellar.
Kerri coughed, “Well, I’m gonna leave.”
Then immediately turned around and walked away. Agnes remained cool, acting as if Jared didn’t exist. She turned around and started to pack up her things. Jared walked over, placing a lunch box on the table.
“Valeria is my sister’s business partner. She didn’t come here looking for me. Don’t get the wrong idea,” he said to Agnes’s retreating back.
Agnes turned around, “I’m not misunderstanding anything, because frankly, I don’t care, Jared. Whether you end up with Valeria or anyone else in the future, I don’t care. I only hope that you and I can clearly end our relationship before you start a new relationship, without dragging things out.”
Lately, Agnes had been giving Jared the cold shoulder.
She spoke her mind without any sugarcoating.
At first, Jared would get mad.
But now, Agnes got the feeling that he had grown used to her icy demeanor,
It was as though he had learned to filter out any words he didn’t want to hear.
Jared didn’t argue with Agnes, instead, he opened the lunchbox, “I made Boletus mushroom soup today, thought you might like a change.”
Each time this happened, Agnes would feel a mix of heartache and anger.
She felt that during this time, she had been completely different from her former self. It was as if she had turned into a knife, continuously hurting Jared. But his willingnéss to appease her, even going so far as to smile it off, made Agnes feel like the knife was stabbing her own heart.
What was she supposed to do? She felt like she couldn’t hold on any longer.
Agnes walked over and sat down, taking a sip of the soup.
For a while now, Jared had been bringing her soup almost every day.
But Agnes never ate any, and Jared would take it back the next day.
Despite this, Jared still came every day.
Today, Agnes drank the soup, and Jared seemed a bit uneasy
He had a bad feeling about this.
Sure enough, after a few sips, Agnes said with a heavy heart, “Jared, I’m begging you. Do you find this fun? You can’t change me, nor can you change reality. Each time I hurt you, I feel terrible. But why are you forcing me to extinguish the last bit of feelings I have for you? So please, let go. It’s also a way out for you. You’re the CEO of the Tim Group, and you’re spending your time doing this, speaking to me in a low voice, letting me bully you. Don’t you feel wronged?”
“I don’t!” Jared muttered.
Agnes looked at him, her face full of disbelief.
But Jared’s lips curved into a faint smile.
He leaned in, lightly kissing her lips.
Before Agnes could react, Jared had already let go.
