Chapter 489
Jared shut his eyes.
Just then, Leo walked over.
He was delivering work documents.
For the past few years, he’s seen Jared in this state quite often.
The cold, downcast look on Jared’s face probably meant he was missing Ms. Pritchard again.
Leo set down the files and asked with concern, “Boss, you okay?”
This brought Jared back to reality and he sat up.
He glanced at Leo and asked, “Is everything ready for the meeting?”
“All set, boss. Please review,”
But Jared wasn’t in the mood for work, he didn’t even bother to look at the documents.
He looked up and suddenly said to Leo, “I need you to track down the owner of a car for me.”
Leo stood obediently, waiting for his next words.
“It’s a white Volkswagen Golf, probably an old model.”
With that, Jared fell silent.
But Leo still stood there, uncertain, and asked, “Boss, do you remember the license plate number?”
Jared shot him a cold look, “If I remembered the license plate,;, would I need you to look it up?”
This was part of Jared’s frustration.
His mind had been a mess at the time.
Then with the car being blocked, he didn’t get a chance to see the license plate.
On the surface, Leo showed no reaction, but inside, he was groaning.
The boss had given him another tricky task.
Just a white Volkswagen car. That info was very scant.
Manhattan was full of people driving white golf carts. How was he supposed to find it?
Leo didn’t ask Jared what he wanted to find..
He could guess. Jared must have seen someone who reminded him of Ms. Pritchard.
This kind of thing happened every other day for the past four years.
The boss kept giving him these nearly impossible tasks.
Sometimes, there was simply no way to find anything, and Jared would for sure give him a hard time.
But if he did find something, it was even worse.
Because if it wasn’t Ms. Pritchard, the boss would get even angrier.
Leo’s been hanging on to this job by sheer willpower,
“Boss, I’ll do my best,” said Leo.
“Forget it. Don’t look,” Jared said. Then he leaned back on the couch.
He looked desolate.
He knew he was just making things difficult for Leo.
Even if that person really was Agnes, finding her in Manhattan was like finding a needle in a haystack.
Not to mention, he wasn’t even sure.
There had been so many misunderstandings over the years.
Those with the same name and surname as Agnes, those who looked similar to her.
Jared had looked for so many people that it felt like he was about to break.
Leo just stood there.
He knew the boss was in pain, but he didn’t know how to console him.
