Lundy started to speak, “About this whole thing, it’s been bugging me for years. To be honest, I’ve never even met this Julia person. To put it bluntly, it was money laundering. I secretly went through with it, never imagining that I was digging my own grave.” 

“So, you’re saying you’ve never met my mother, who gave you the money then?” 

“All the operations were managed by my secretary at the time. But after the shit hit the fan, he vanished without a trace. He’s still missing, which only makes me think this was a trap, expertly laid out for me. But I have no idea if the target was me or Julia.” 

Agnes had already guessed as much, she figured this was all Alyssa’s doing..

Agnes said, “If someone deliberately set you up, making you serve fifteen years in prison, can you really just accept it? Don’t you want to know who it was? He might be living the high life now, without having to pay for any price. Even though you made a mistake, without someone setting you up, you wouldn’t have wasted most of your life in jail.” 

Something Agnes said struck a chord with Lundy. He turned around and said, “If you want to uncover the truth, I won’t stand in your way. I still have the old deposit receipts. The money was transferred to a Swiss bank account and was later frozen. But there was also a half a million that was never accounted for. If no one claims this money, according to Swiss law, anyone can claim it after twenty years, as long as they have the original deposit receipt. The sum will be adjusted -according to the exchange rate and interest. But this money must be claimed within a certain time frame after the twenty years, and the information must remain confidential, otherwise, it’ll be returned and the identity of the original account holder will be revealed. If this old case is reopened, it could be very dangerous. The person who set the trap wouldn’t be that dumb. They’ll surely claim the money within that time frame.”
