Yolanda knew it deep in her heart that if things continued this way, with Jared backing Agnes, she might genuinely lose her position one day.
What intimidated her most was that Agnes was indeed quite competent.
But so what? Agnes was nothing more than a discarded wife from a wealthy family with an arrogant attitude. Yolanda didn't give her a second thought.
After leaving the venue, Agnes went straight to the parking lot.
The plan was to leave with Jared, but she didn't expect to run into Sharon and Jared talking in the parking lot.
Sharon said like a little girl seeking praise, "Jared, I'm really happy today. I won Best Actress. I can still hold my ground in this industry. I'm not a useless pretty face, am I?"
There was a comforting smile on Jared's face.
"Of course not, you're amazing. I'm glad I was able to present you the award personally and witness your growth and hard work."
Smiling, Sharon replied, "Your affirmation means more to me than anyone else's. I owe my achievements to you. You've always been there for me, pulling me up whenever I hit rock bottom. I'm genuinely grateful for you."
Patting Sharon's shoulder, Jared said, "Silly girl, I'm your brother."
At the mention of 'brother,' Sharon's expression seemed to change subtly. A hint of bitterness seeped through her eyes.
Across from Sharon, Agnes saw everything clearly. But Sharon's sight was blocked by a pillar, so she couldn't see Agnes at all.
Suddenly, Sharon said, "Jared, I saw Ms. Pritchard today. She interviewed me."
Jared responded casually, "Oh, did the interview go well?"
