James suddenly received a call saying that the case had been withdrawn and that the other party intended to give up holding them accountable.
James' mother thought she was hearing imaginary voices and quickly grabbed the phone to confirm. "Really? The other party really decided to drop the case? What about the compensation..."
"You don't have to pay." The opposing lawyer said.
James’s mother hung up the phone in disbelief and said to James, "James, I didn't expect this to be solved so easily. That's great. So great."
James looked sullen and remained silent for a long time before he suddenly stood up and walked out.
His mother asked anxiously, "James, where are you going?"
"Mom, tell my dad the good news! I have something to do, so I need to go out for a while." James said.
His mother nodded. She knew that he had worked so hard for so many days for this matter, and that now he might want to relax, so she did not stop him.
After James left, he drove away and drove directly to that hotel.
When he arrived at the door of Room 802, the bodyguards stopped him.
James said with a grim face, "Let me in. The person inside said I could come to him anytime."
The two bodyguards glanced at each other and said, "I’ll make a call first. You wait a minute."
One of the bodyguards took out his cell phone to make a call to the room, and it was quickly connected. When the person heard the bodyguard's words, he agreed.
The bodyguard hung up the phone and said, "Mr. Brent allows you to go in. Go in!"
James gritted his teeth and pushed the door open angrily. As soon as he entered, he saw Emily coming out of the bedroom in a bathrobe.
Emily didn't expect him to come over and said in surprise, "James, why are you here?"
Franklin came out of the bedroom and took a coat to cover her. "Be careful. You may catch a cold."
Then he raised his eyes and looked at James arrogantly, as if he had done it on purpose.
James asked with a grim face, "Why are you here? Didn't I tell you not to worry about this? Why did you come here?"
When James heard the matter was solved so easily, he knew that Franklin had achieved his purpose.
He didn't reach an agreement with Franklin before because he understood Franklin was behind all this the moment he went in and saw Franklin. Sure enough, as soon as they met, Franklin asked him to leave Emily, or he would be in jail.
But he had already driven Emily away. Why did Emily meet this man again?
"James, I'm sorry." Emily lowered her head and muttered.
James said angrily, "Don’t apologize to me. It has nothing to do with you. Didn't I tell you to leave and not to worry? This is our family's business. Whatever result we will get is our own business."
"But it's all because of me," Emily shouted.
"What? They knew?" Emily was surprised. She didn't expect that.
"You know I had a girlfriend before. This is her photo." James took out a photo and showed it to Emily.
Emily took a look and widened her eyes in surprise.
She didn't expect that there would be someone so similar to her in this world.
The woman wasn't exactly the same as her, but the eyebrows and eyes were very similar. Looking at that photo again, she felt even more similar.
"You two look alike. That's why I want to marry you. And my parents don't like her. Do you know why?" James smiled bitterly.
Emily shook her head, "This girl doesn't look like a bad person. How could your parents hate her?"
"I also have a brother named Bruce, who is my twin brother. I met the girl first, but she fell in love with my brother. When they left together, it snowed heavily. There was a pile-up on the highway, and many people were injured and killed. The two of them were killed. Ever since then, I've completely lost interest in marriage. I was surprised to see you. I didn't expect there would be such a person so similar to her. So I wanted to marry you because I..."
"Because you can't forget her, and because you still love her." Emily muttered.
James lowered his head in guilt.
Emily took a deep breath. In fact, she knew some about this when James asked her to marry him. But she didn't expect it to be so complicated. She always thought that James was in love with the woman he could not forget. She didn’t expect him to be too caught up in his unrequited love.
"James, the past is the past. I hope you can be happy."
