Emily finally made a move. Her eyelashes fluttered slightly and she turned to his side.
She stared at Franklin for a long time before she raised her weak arm and patted Franklin on the face.
But she made it a gentle way so it was not so much a slap as a touch.
But Franklin widened his eyes and looked at her in disbelief as if he could not believe that she would slap him on the face.
Emily opened her mouth and said in a hoarse voice, "It's all on you. If it weren't for you, Bryce wouldn't have disappeared, nor would he have been missing."
After saying these words, Emily gasped and took several deep breaths. Her eyes turned red and tears fell uncontrollably.
Franklin didn't hurt when she slapped him, but what she said made him hurt so much.
Yes, if he hadn't had such a passionate love with her, she would probably have known about Bryce's disappearance earlier and found the child earlier.
But whose fault was it? Was it really his fault?
If she had told him from the beginning that Bryce was his son, he would have happily brought the child back and loved him deeply. If she hadn't run away from him then, he would have saved her no matter what when he woke up. If she had come back earlier, it wouldn't have happened so much.
But there were no ifs.
Franklin sighed and couldn't help but feel heartbroken for her red eyes and rolling tears.
He reached out and gently wiped the tears off her face. He approached her and coaxed her softly, "Okay, it's my fault. But don't worry, I will definitely find the child back. Don't be sad, you almost break my heart."
Emily's heart ached. He actually said something she felt sorry for.
But did he really feel sad?
Emily thought of his imprisonment for her, of his punishment for Ivy, of him even getting married to Avery soon...
No, he wasn't sad.
"Franklin, if you really have a little regret, let me go. No matter where he is, I will go to find Bryce. I must find him." Emily cried.
However, Franklin hugged her even tighter and said, "I won't let you go. I'll find him. But don't you ever want to leave me again, Emily. You abandoned me once four years ago. Do you think I'll let that happen again?"
"I didn't abandon you. I didn't abandon you four years ago. I had no other choices. I had my reasons." Seeing that he didn't still let go of what happened four years ago, Emily couldn't help but roar in grievance.
After shouting, she felt that all her strength had been used up. Emily could not help but fall asleep in a daze.
In fact, the nutrition injection that the doctor gave her contained methaqualone. In her current state, it was best for her to sleep.
But Emily didn't sleep well after she fell asleep, and she always had nightmares. Sometimes, she dreamt that Bryce was shouting for his mother desperately. Or, she dreamed that Bryce was kidnapped and killed by bad people.
She almost woke up in a nightmare and suddenly opened her eyes and shouted, "No."
"He will never forgive an irresponsible mother like me." Emily sobbed.
Joyce held her hand and said, "No, Bryce is a good boy. He won't blame you."
"Joyce, do you think Bryce will be found?" Emily asked sobbing.
Joyce nodded hard and said, "Of course, Mr. Brent has already ordered his people to look for Bryce. He really cares about him, he will definitely find Bryce."
"It wouldn't have been like this without him." Emily said angrily.
This was the nature of human. When an unacceptable thing happened, they couldn't help but think of all kinds of reasons. For others, for their own, all those reasons would be counted on even they happened many years ago, which hurt both themselves and others.
Joyce sighed. She also knew what happened before Bryce disappeared. Franklin gave a rough description, but she couldn't tell who was right and who was wrong.
If Emily had been willing to tell Franklin about his relationship with that child from the beginning, perhaps Franklin would have brought the child to her side long ago, and there would be no such thing as this.
But she couldn't blame Emily for her decision. After all, for Emily, a man who was about to marry another woman could not be the father of her child no matter what. Otherwise, she would feel ashamed of herself.
"By the way, when are you and Sebastian going back?" Emily calmed down after a while and asked slowly.
The florist had been sold out as well as the house. If there was no such accident, they would have left soon!
Joyce choked and said, "There's nothing else I can think of right now. I won't leave until Bryce comes back."
