Emily's heart ached and tears flowed uncontrollably again.
But she said calmly to Joyce, "You and Sebastian should hurry back! I have told the elderly back home before. Now if you suddenly decide not to go back, they will be worried. I'll call you when there is news about Bryce. It's useless for you to stay here, as you said, with Franklin here, we are inferior to him in these ways."
"How can I leave now that you're like this? I want to stay with you." Joyce said.
Emily said, "Joyce, listen to me and go with Sebastian! I'm fine. I'm fine until I find Bryce. You're here... I won't be at ease because I will concern about you so I can't devote myself to the things."
"Emily, what else do you want to do?" Joyce asked in surprise.
Emily pursed her lips and remained silent, not knowing what she was thinking.
Joyce sighed and looked at Emily again and said nervously, "Emily, listen to me. You and Mr. Brent were purely misunderstood before, I know you well. You are definitely moved by Mr. Brent, and Mr. Brent is also sincere to you. Since you love each other, don't let the misunderstanding ruin such a beautiful relationship. When Mr. Brent finds Bryce, your family will be reunited. You must not cause any more trouble."
Emily smiled bitterly and looked at Joyce, "Look at your words. It's as if I'm a troublemaker. Don't worry, I won't cause any trouble. But you have to leave with Sebastian quickly. Things here... I have my own plans."
Joyce bit her lip and knew that though Emily looked easy-going, she was always stubborn in her bones, and she couldn't be pulled back if she had made her mind.
It was the same for doing things, and it was the same for feelings.
It was useless no matter how much she tried to persuade her. It would be better to say something useful.
But when it came to useful things, Joyce suddenly remembered what Emily had asked her to investigate before. She had gotten the results, but as soon as Bryce's things happened, she forgot them all.
Fortunately, she remembered today. Otherwise, it would be hard to tell Emily if she left later.
"Emily, do you remember that old Chinese doctor you asked me to investigate? I have results now." Joyce whispered.
Emily was stunned and asked quickly, "How was it? How was the result?"
Joyce pursed her lips and looked back, but she was still worried. She simply stood up and walked to the door to open it and then looked outside. After making sure there was no one, she closed the door.
"You don't have a surveillance camera here, do you? Or a monitor." Joyce asked.
Emily frowned and said, "It's just a little thing. Why are you so alerting? Could it be related to Franklin? "
But then Emily suddenly widened her eyes and looked at Joyce in disbelief. After a long time, she muttered, "Is it really... Related to Franklin?"
Joyce whispered, "Didn't I tell you before that the old Chinese doctor was introduced by my relative's family. In fact, it is my relative's father-in-law. After so many years I asked him again, he was finally willing to tell the truth. He said that before I took you for a checkup, a noble lady went to him. She gave him a sum of money and a good job for his son, just to let him issue a false test result. If he does not do as she told, she would just...let their whole family out of Lancaster."
"The lady you're talking about is Mrs. Brent, right?!" Emily muttered.
She should have thought that there was no such coincidence. She was misdiagnosed twice, and the first misdiagnosis actually said that she was infertile, which was really absurd.
"Mr. Brent, I see that Miss Johnson's mood is abnormal!" Lisa found an opportunity to say to Franklin.
Franklin said faintly, "What's wrong?"
Lisa said, "Miss Johnson is too calm. It shouldn't be. Judging from her previous obsession with the child, she must be sad for a long time. I didn't expect her to recover so soon. It shouldn't be!"
Franklin frowned. In fact, he also felt that Emily was in an abnormal mood, but he couldn't figure out the reason.
It was better to be calm than collapse. If she made a fuss to find the child herself, he would only have more headaches.
"Maybe she's decided to let it go. That's better. How's the thing I asked you to do? Is it all done?" Franklin sighed and changed the subject.
Lisa said quickly, "It's all done. Don't worry. The wedding is on schedule."
Franklin nodded and smiled faintly, "I hope this will make her happier and forget about the child's troubles for the time being."
"If you really can't find him, just have another one! You and Miss Johnson are still young. With another child, Miss Johnson may not be so sad." Lisa suggested tentatively.
Franklin's eyes lit up and he nodded with a slight smile. Why didn't he think of this? It seemed...a good idea.
