Winnie took a deep breath and then calmed down.
“I think you have heard something about me, I won't explain anything, but I have to talk to you since it is related to Mr. Bennet.”
“The pictures of Mr. Bennet and me are real. Mr. Bennet was waiting for me in the parking lot. He bought gifts for the kids and told me to take them home. I lost control of myself and got Mr. Bennet in trouble.”
“Chairman, I am very sorry for bringing discredit to Mr. Bennet and bringing negative influence to the Bennet Group.”
Winnie stood up and bowed respectfully to Felix. She had no other way to express her regret, nor was she able to make up for the negative impact she had brought to Brian.
All she could do was to apologize sincerely.
Felix was silent for a moment, then he spoke.
“Sit down. I have a question for you.”
Felix felt gratified for Winnie's apology.
And it was clear that Winnie wanted to protect Brian.
Brian admitted his mistakes for Winnie and Winnie took all responsibility for Brian.
Winnie sat down, but she was worried about Felix's question, afraid that she would make trouble to Brian if she did not answer the question well.
“What do you want to ask?”
Winnie could only face it.
“You promised me that nothing would happen between you and Brian, but you failed to do so.”
“I asked to you be together with Brian for the sake of Luke, but you refused and said you had no selfish motives. Since you had refused, and since you have no selfish motives, you must keep your promise to me.”
Felix's tone was colder. He had to stick to his principles about their relationship.
He could let it go this time, because the consequence was not serious. Neither Brian nor the Bennet Group was affected.
“Don't worry, Chairman, there won't be anything between Mr. Bennet and me. But I can't promise it.”
Winnie spoke frankly, because sometimes she could not control herself. Even if she and Brian had been separated, they sometimes slept together.
Winnie knew that her promise was important to Felix and a constraint to herself. But she could not deceive the chairman and let him down again and again.
“What do you mean by that?”
Felix frowned again. Was that provocation?
“Chairman, you were young too, and sometimes I really can't control myself. I know it's shameless to say that, but that is all. Don’t worry, I have no motives for Mr. Bennet and I won't affect his family.”
Winnie saw Felix's cold face, and thought her explanation was not enough, so she continued.
“I know my status, and I know I'm not good enough for Mr. Bennet. I am a divorced woman with kids. How can I be with Mr. Bennet? Chairman, you don't have to worry, although sometimes I can’t control myself, I will not pester him and will not affect his normal life.”
Winnie said what she should said. Believe it or not, it was Felix's business.
Although she could not get over Brian, although she could not refuse his occasional hug and close contact, Winnie definitely would not live with Brian, not disturb his life and pester him.
Felix did not understand and looked at Winnie with a dark face.
Winnie saw that Felix did not speak and knew that he was not satisfied with her answer.
“Chairman, if I stay here, you feel I am an eyesore, I can leave.”
Although Winnie had been yearning for that, she was not sure if Felix would allow her to take Luke away.
“If Luke can leave you, I really want you to leave.”
Felix said in a cold and angry voice.
Now if Winnie left, Luke and Brian could not accept it.
Maybe Felix was old, maybe he faced Winnie, he was not as cruel as he was before.
“If you trust me, I can take Luke away with me. I am confident that I can take good care of Luke.”
Winnie looked at Felix with worry. If he said it was OK, she would immediately leave with two children. Because leaving for her was relief and she could get over Brian.
“No, Luke is a child of the Bennet family, even if I trust you, I can’t let you leave with him.”
“Winnie, I can turn a blind eye on things between you and Brian, but don’t make troubles, or you should leave B City.”
Felix had to warn Winnie. It was his limit that he turned a blind eye on that and it was for the sake that Winnie took care of Luke, or Winnie would have left B City now.
Winnie could not believe what she had heard and that Felix showed mercy to her.
“Chairman, aren’t you afraid that I have motive and that I don’t keep my words?”
“You dare not, even if you break your words, I have solutions.”
Felix said in a domineering way, but that was not her real thought.
