His Destructive, Toxic Love novel Chapter 607

Caleb flashed a knowing smile, grabbing a beer from the table and popping it open with ease. "Hey bro, just a heads-up. You've just reeled her in, and if you don't treat her right and keep her happy, you might just lose her..."

Caleb's eyes landed on Eliza, who was in the middle of the dance floor, surrounded by a bunch of guys, dancing and having the time of her life.

In a blink, she could slip away.

Casper's face was as dark as a storm cloud.

His gaze was laser-focused on the woman in the dance floor, who was all smiles, while his fists clenched so tightly they creaked.

On the surface, Eliza seemed to be enjoying herself.

But deep down, she was just trying to drown her sorrows.

The guys buzzing around her like pesky flies made her feel stifled.

And then she bumped into someone she really didn't want to see.

Summer, Casper's secretary.

Eliza had hoped to avoid eye contact, to act like she hadn't seen her.

But Summer, sharp-eyed as ever, grabbed Eliza's arm. "Aren't you Mr. Casper's relative? What's your name again... Elle, right? Last time you threw a fit in Mr. Casper's office, and I got chewed out because of it. You've got some nerve."

Eliza shook off Summer’s hand, not wanting to get into it.

But Summer wasn't backing down. "You’re really something, sneaking into Mr. Casper’s lounge, messing with his stuff? What are you, his mom? His sister? It's none of your business who he's with, especially since it isn't you."

"Not with me, so it’s you then?" Eliza had never seen someone so desperate for attention. "Summer, you're Casper's secretary, not his wife. What's with the superiority complex?"

"A secretary and a CEO, aren’t they a perfect match?" Summer, standing tall at 5'8", looked down her nose at Eliza. "Someone your age, Mr. Casper would never go for."

Eliza let out a dry laugh.

Fresh out of college, and the confidence is sky-high.

Sure, being young is an edge, but without smarts, not many would be interested.

"Okay."

She left that single word hanging, then turned away.

Summer blinked in surprise.
