With a few more hours spent comforting Bethany and promising her that Her scumbag husband, Jason, was going to get what he deserved, Amara returned home.
However, the moment she opened the door and walked in, she was surprised to see Melanie on the couch, sucking face with some unknown guy.
“Oh God,” She quickly covered her eyes and turned away, thankfully, gaining the attention of the two on the couch.
“Mara, you’re back? What happened to golfing?” Melanie asked as she shoved her partner away, much to his displeasure.
“I uh… Finished early and…did I…interrupt something? I can leave if I-“
“No, not at all,” Melanie shoved the man once again, this time around it was off the chair and onto his foot. “We were just about wrapping up.” She turned to her partner and shooed him off. “You can leave.”
The guy looked reluctantly. “But Mel,” He tried protesting.
“I said you can leave, can’t you see my friend is here. Now, leave.”
Hearing the sharpness in her tone, the man knew better than to stay and complain. He grabbed his jacket and shoes grumbling and glaring at Amara as he stalked towards the door.
“Is he…who is he?” Amara asked.
“Just one of them guys I picked up from the club, why’d you ask?”
Amara glanced back at the door. She stared for a moment longer, trying to figure out why the guys face had seemed so familiar for some reason. After a few seconds, she shook her head.
“Nothing, I was just curious.”
Melanie grinned. “Curious eh?” She winked but before she could say anything more, Amara gave her a look that indicated that she’d best put whatever joke she’s currently brewing, to rest.
And just that, Melanie did.
She waited until Amara had poured herself a glass of water before she began speaking again. “I’m sorry you had to see that.”
“It’s not your fault.” Amara assured. “Now that I think about it, I think I’ve over stayed my welcome. You’ve houses me for nearly two months and I’ve been imposing on you all that time, perhaps I should move out.”
