Chapter 8
Before leaving, Maeve sent a message to the landlord and informed him that she would not be renewing the lease..
The landlord kept asking why she wanted to move out, and she casually made up an excuse.
The landlord said she could have a few more days, allowing her to stay until mid–October.
Maeve knew that it was Donte who had instructed behind her back.
He asked her to stay for two more days, and then pretended to regain his memory, so he could bring
her back home.
She did not see throu
gh their plan and agreed.
Three days before leaving, Maeve received an unfamiliar phone call.
“Ms. Crosby? Hello, I’m the manager of Frorel Hotel, where you held your engagement party. Here’s the situation: Your fiancé had booked our main hall for the wedding banquet scheduled for
the day after tomorrow. However, we haven’t been able to reach him lately, and there are some details we need to verify and discuss. Would you be available to come by and talk it through?”
Maeve initially wanted to refuse, but when she heard the date of the day after tomorrow, her
eyelashes trembled slightly.
January 1st was the day Donte decided to regain her memory, and also the day she prepared to leave.
She agreed and took a taxi to rush over. As soon as she entered the hall and saw the decorations, she
fell silent.
From flowers to decorations, everything was exactly the same as the setting when Donte proposed
to her.
Immersed in it, Maeve momentarily couldn’t distinguish between the present and the past.
The manager who accompanied her just came in and was about to introduce when he received a
phone call and temporarily left.
She walked alone to the second floor and looked down, unable to help but recall the scene when Donte held flowers and a ring, kneeling on the ground, making a promise to love her forever.
Back then, Maeve eagerly looked forward to the upcoming married life with
joy.
Who would have thought that, just three months later, everything would have vanished into thin air and become nothing?
Chapter
Just as I was feeling emotional, the door was suddenly pushed open.
Donte, dressed in a suit, walked in holding a bouquet of flowers.
Phoebe, who was following behind, saw the dreamlike scene in front of her and couldn’t help but exclaim, with a hint of anticipation in her eyes.
“Donte, why did you bring me here?”
Donte snapped his fingers, his face beaming with pride.
“This is the place where I proposed to Maeve and held our engagement banquet before. The day after tomorrow, I plan to have a few of my brothers bring Maeve here, and then I can pretend to be
moved by the scene and naturally recall the past.
“I brought you here today to do a rehearsal first. You will play the role of Maeve and see if there are any flaws.”
With that, he pushed Phoebe to the center of the stage and began performing.
The enormous beam blocked Maeve firmly.
She watched quietly as the two people passionately performed, her eyes shimmering slightly.
I have to admit that Donte is indeed very talented in performing.
If she had no idea about all this, she might have been deceived by him if she came here three days
later.
Fortunately, she had not been unlucky to that extent.
Downstairs, the process had reached the stage of forgiveness, and Phoebe tiptoed and kissed Donte.
The originally affectionate atmosphere started to sour from this moment on.
The snow–white suit was stained with lipstick, flowing down along with the pink long skirt.
Donte pinched the snowy white waist, his tone frivolous and casual.
