“Aria, are you free this afternoon? Mom wants to have a conversation with you.”

Aria fell silent for several seconds, then spoke slow

In the afternoon, Aria went to the restaurant for 12

meeting.

Helen looked at her with a strained smile. “Aria, what would you like to eat? Mom will order for you.”

Aria had originally intended to refuse, but as the words reached her lips, she changed her mind. “It’s fine, I’m not particular about food.”

What she loved to eat, what she disliked–if her mother had truly cared about her preferences, she wouldn’t need to ask.

“Just tell me directly what’s on your mind,” Aria said, seeing through Helen’s intentions and cutting straight to the point.

Helen lowered her eyes and spoke slowly. “Aria, Mom knows you’ve been wronged in this bonding, but can you wait until Charlie finds stable employment before pursuing the severance?”
